Curious how this works. Nontraditionals have been out of school for a while or perhaps obtained advanced degrees. Their completed med school pre-reqs remain good but the big question is what to do about Pre-Med committee letters.

What is the best way to approach this? Most recent university? Original University? The thing is, potentially many have not had any involvement with their previous universities for some time.

Which specific school are you referencing? Most of the schools that mention pre-med letters say that if you don't have one then two science LORs will substitute. PCOM seems very strict on theirs, but someone in another thread just mentioned calling them to ask about it and they said you can substitute, too.

I am in a similar situation. I went to the pre-med advisor of my PhD-granting university and assembled a "pre-med committee" that consisted of members of my dissertation committee to write letters. Kind of a Non-Trad version of the typical pre-med letter packet.

I'm currently waiting on the Pre-Med Advisor to get the letters assembled and write the cover letter so it can be sent out.

Hope this helps. PM me if you want more specific details.

I personally have a problem giving letters to a pre-med committee that meets me for <10 mins and gets to decide what portions of my letters are important enough to be mentioned in their pre-med letter...especially when my letters came from professors that I'v studied under for 5 years in undergrad and 2.5 years in grad school...

I did more or elss the same thing as you, but cut out the pre-med committee all together and it worked out fine for me...none of the schools I applied to/interviewed at every questioned it.

I completed the prerequsites recently by taking at night continuing ed classes and the premedical committe for the school's "regular" undergrads was happy to help.

If you're a few years out of school I'd say contact the school where you did the prerequisite classes, or just which ever is closer since you may need to go for an interview with the premed committee.
