I'd like to start this thread since 75% of preallo are these same questions asked over and over by new members.
Feel free to add to this.
If you get a C your life is not over, hell some people have even failed classes and still got in. If you talk to the people accepted this year you will see that plenty of them have C's on their transcripts. So if by chance you end up with a C in calculus II (this one is very commonfor some reason), dont freak out - just cut your losses, move on and DO NOT post a thread about how your life is over and you now have no chance of getting into medical school. However, if you are making C's, D's, or F's on a regular basis you really need to evaluate your study habits and goals in life.
There is no need to retake classes you made C's in, especially if that class was a lower level science class (i.e. general biology or general chemistry).
There is no magical formula for getting into medical school but, if you look at averages you will see that a 3.5 GPA and a MCAT score of 30 will give you a good chance.
If you are a freshman, there is very little we can tell you about your chances of admission. In fact, it would be very hard to make any guess as to what your chances are without:
MCAT scores
GPA
a list of EC's
and even with this material the best you will get is a guess by students
also, SDN is filled with type A personalities so when you see everyone posting their stats and you see nothing but 3.9's and 40's, don't stress over it - this is not the norm!
