Northeastern School Psych

Can anyone tell me how Northeastern's school psych program ranks, especially among Lehigh, University at Buffalo, and University of Connecticut? The reason I ask is because I can't make any travel arrangements to get to Northeastern and back to Buffalo in good time, so I have to give up an interview. The only way I would make it is to drive all night, so is Northeastern worth the drive and sleep deprivation, or should I consider canceling the interview?

Any input would be appreciated, especially prompt replies!!!

One thing to consider is that Northeastern is currently unaccredited by APA and NASP due to the splitting of the Combined Counseling/School program into two separate programs.

I had no idea that Northeastern was currently unaccredited, which matters for a certification program. As much as I would love to live in Boston, I think that makes it a lot easier to decide!

Hopefully I'll keep getting more interviews to widen my chances of getting accepted, but I think Northeastern is one that I'll have to give up. I know Storrs isn't the ideal place to live, but its proximity to NJ and NY more than makes up for that for me.

Being in a non-licensed masters/eds school psych program really is not that big of a deal - I know several people who went to such programs, and are fully credentialed school psychs.

However, if you are going for a phd then it would be wise to make sure you go to a licensed program (much more competitive for internship/licensing/jobs, then masters level school psych).

This is really only a HUGE deal for last year's cohort. By the time this years cohort graduates the program should have APA accreditation. This could impact apps for some prac sites, but they should graduate APA.

NEU is a well-respected regional school - as a national school not so much.

Very true - but more and more it seems like the sites that demand APA are getting fewer and fewer - except VA's of course. I'd never want to work in a VA though so that's not an issue for me.

But yeah, point well taken. As someone as said, this field is competitive enough. It's not like you really need anything working against you at this point.
