Ok, I kind of searched but I am not exactly sure what terms I would use.

I am applying this summer for 2012 application. I have completed organic chemistry 1 and am currently in Biochemistry with lab. I have talked to a number of schools. Many say they will accept this with no problems, but I few say they won't. a couple said it depends on the grade, which will be As for both.

I have also heard that there is a spot on the application to indicate future classes that might be taken. my dream school will does not require ochem 2 and most of the other schools in my area will accept biochem in place of ochem 2.

I don't want take ochem 2 if i don't have to, the money, the work (i am a nontrad working 70 hours a week with 3 kids), everything. I don't want to indicate i plan on taking ochem 2 and then get accepted to a school that doesn't need it, only to have them expect it, nor do I want to show that I have no intention of taking it if it automatically means a rejection without it.

my question is can you get an conditional acceptance without indicating you are planning on taking more classes? does this make sense to anyone?

I am more interested in DO schools so I posted it here, but if anyone knows the answer regarding AMCAS as well, that would be awesome.

I will not be taking any future courses after I finish this semester. If I do, it will be because I didn't get accepted and need to do a PB grad program. If the schools you're applying to DON'T require it, there is no point to put it down. Additionally, future courses, in my understanding are courses you are registered for, or will be registering for. If you apply to a school and it requires OChem for matriculation, you will be made aware of it, and will have to complete it before you can start. It isn't something that they will deny you acceptance for, but your acceptance would be 'conditional' on you finishing the class successfully. Does this help?

So just so I am clear, if I get apply to x med school and they do not accept biochem in place of ochem 2, instead of rejecting me outright they may accept me and say "you didn't say you are going to take ochem 2 but you can't start here until it is done." That would make me a happy man. Thanks. If I misunderstood let me know.

I actually did this for this application cycle. I was missing an upper level science class for KCUMB (I was a non-science major, so I just did the pre-reqs as well as biochem). The admissions department e-mailed me and asked me if I was planning on taking the course and I of course said yes. If I got in, of course I would take the class, but if I didn't, I didn't want to spend money unnecessarily (I obviously didn't say that...I just said I was planning on taking it). 2 days after I sent my reply I received an interview invite....so I am assuming they were just making sure I would be willing to take the class if I was accepted. I wouldn't list it on the future courses, but if they ask just say you are planning on taking it spring/summer semester. If you apply early enough, you should have a pretty good idea of where you are going by January, giving you the opportunity to take it in the spring if you need/want to.

You understood correctly 😉 All is well my friend!
