Not taking current/future coursework

Hello,

I did a search for this and found a few threads, but I am still confused. I have a class that I listed on my AMCAS that I do not want to take. Its not a prerequisite nor is it needed for my major. It's a humanities class that I planned to take because I didn't have enough for a few schools, but I'm not interviewing at those schools anyway. I'm fortunate to have a couple of acceptances at this point, and I called one school that I am accepted at and they said that it won't affect my offer, but just to drop them an email letting them know.

My worry is for schools that I have yet to hear from. Do I need to update them on this change? I'm planning on not taking it all together. Can I just let them know after I get a decision? Also to clarify I won't be taking this with anything else (planning on having reduced course load for honors thesis)

99% of the time, no one cares. You don't have a grade in the course yet, so they're not evaluating your performance in it with regard to your application. Wait. If you're accepted, let them know.

If you're really concerned about it you could call schools' admissions offices and briefly explain the situation ("I'm an applicant and..."). They may have policies on whether they need to be notified or what.
