Is the difference between a RIC and two 14 gauges clinically significant?

I just ask because 14 gauges seem much faster, and less problematic - and with a pressure head and short catheter - can flow VERY fast.

I put a RIC in the foot once. It worked fine.

They make wires in all sizes. My peds guys use wires through 22g, maybe even 24g.

True. I meant the wire in the kit. If I have to hunt down another wire, the hassle factor goes way up and I'm more likely to just throw in some 14's or 16's.

It can be significant when I have one belmont rapid infuser.
