Why does Notre Dame not have a medical school? I was gonna apply there, but it looks like I will not be able to. Do you think the Irish will establish one someday?

Because the Irish are too drunk to be trusted with scalpels.

and THESE days they can't even be trusted with a football, let alone patients.

MY wife, who is Irish, is sitting here next to me and just fell over laughing.

I heard that Michigan might have to forefit the game against Penn State. Is that true?

The NCAA is reviewing the "ineligible player". In the most extreme case they might yank the win from them, but the NCAA isn't giving details.

yes, and the Notre Dame game.

they were playing with an ineligible player.

First of all, it's just a Big Ten issue. So, the only game that is in question is the Penn State game. The player in question is eligible by NCAA standards, not Big Ten. The problem is he started classes last January as a Freshman to participate in Spring Ball, didn't do as well as he should have, and tried to make up the credits in the Spring/Summer terms. However, the Big Ten doesn't recognize Freshman with his early entry status during the Spring/Summer terms, due to various reasons I can get into if ya'll want to know. But anyway, the only thing in question is the Penn State game, where he played in 3 plays, recorded 1 assisted tackle, all on special teams. They most likely will get a slap on the wrist, especially since they called themselves out on it.

As for Notre Dame, there was a philosophical issue early on in the University's timeline as to the ethics of medicine vs. God, and therefore, abolished any chance of a medical school. They have to repeal some things in the University's Catholic Charter to establish one.

Because they can't win a football game.

There is an Indiana University School of Medicine campus at Notre Dame. Before they had their own buildings, the IU med school South Bend campus was primarily located in the basement of the psychology building at ND, which was weird...

Here's the website:

Well if i had a trillion dollars i would build a medical school for notre dame here in hawaii ... too bad that won't happen untill they actually win a game ...

i wish they did build a med school though ... its pretty sad considering that its one of the most highly ranked catholic schools and they don't even have a med school ... i mean even nebraska's creighton university has one (in addition to a pharmacy school, a dental school, a physical therapy, and an occupational therapy school)

the main reason we don't have a med school at ND is that the university doesn't want to get too big. right now the total enrollment (grad + undergrad) is around 10,000 and they like it that way so they can focus on quality. some people think the university will eventually buy the IUSB med school, which is a possibility considering their building has the same architecture as every building on the ND campus
