Is it still ill-advised to apply to Nova MD?

I’ve heard bad things about NOVA DO. I haven’t heard much about NOVA MD. Fill me in?

What did you hear about their DO program?

From Goro in 2018
Nova: four consecutive years of declining first-time COMLEX pass rates. They're now at ~85% and on top of this, some 7% of their 2018 grads failed to match. This was the second worst match rate among all the COMs (only WCU did worse). These are things you expect from a new school, not a veteran. Something is very wrong there.

Ya, Nova DO has a downward trend for board scores, pass rates, and match rates, which is really bad. But I don't think its I'll advised to apply to the MD program. The only thing about it is its a new school, so its kinda up in the air on how the first class will do.

Oh okay. Sounds good. Hope the MD performs better than the DO school otherwise I'll have to withdraw.

Ya, I mean if its your only acceptance obviously go for it, but the first class hasn't taken step 1 yet, and won't till the end of this school year, so we pry won't know anything until after this application cycle.

The problem with all new schools is that there are many growing pains, and the first classes will be subject to those.

I have firsthand knowledge of this happening at the MD school that just opened alongside my own and it doesn't look pretty. Their future matching notwithstanding, it certainly could make for a hell of a medical school experience.

Just to be clear, I'm not for or against Nova MD. Just be advised that all new schools are going to go through a lot of growing pains that may or may not resolve.

I'm curious, what struggles have you seen with the new MD school that just opened up? I'm interested because I'm applying there right now. I believe I know which one you're referring to and wanted to know because I think they literally just started their first class.
