another question... do you have to do the entrance interview for finaid through the sallie mae website even though you have an alternate lender? i chose THE, but the entrance interview is still on sallie mae's page so a lil curious. thanks
 
Ok so I am super behind with everything and I would really appreciate any help!

1. Where exactly do we send our final transcripts and AP scores? (exact address??)

2. How did everyone send their AP scores? Is it ok if they are on the transcript or do you need to send official score reports?

3. I tried registering for classes yesterday, and two of the classes had time conflicts. Did anyone else have that problem?

4. As far as financial aid, I have not done ANYTHING. I am filling out the Fafsa right now. Is there much else I can do until my transcripts have been received by NSUCOM? They won't give aid letters until transcripts are received right?

5. I have not ordered any books, scrubs or white coat! Have the rest of you ordered everything? I am assuming books are not that big of a deal because you can get them later on. But I'm worried abotu the scrubs and white coat.

6. As far as housing, does everyone already have a place??

I apologize for the long list of questions! I am sure some of you who are on top of things probably think I'm crazy for not knowing some of the answers to these questions. I just found out about NSUCOM pretty late in the game so I am somewhat behind! Any help would be appreciated!

1. I lost the exact address too! but its some po box.

2. goto the collegeboard website, get the info for requesting an official score report (out of archive if necessary), and write them a letter (yes, one of those paper things with stamps) requesting it to be sent to nsu along with some moola.

3. nope. weird

4. correct. decide on a lender for stafford/other loans for now (unless youre content with sallie mae)

5. scrubs and books arent a big deal yet, but you should probably call the white coat place asap and see if they are still taking orders as the "Deadline" was may 15th.

6. the cool kids have places!

hope you catch up on the stuff! when in doubt, just call and annoy office of student admins services! theyre so useful at times!
 
Noone else had a problem registering? I think it was the preceptorship and practicum class that I couldn't register for because they had time conflicts with the anatomy class.

Did you register for the classes that were sent in the e-mail from Ms. Jones?

i successfully registered to all of the classes Ms. Jones told us to register for..except the elective class (not really interested in medical spanish)
 
Hablas espanol, Mikey? 'cause most of the patients in So Fl do and for one reason or another do not wish to learn english. I am brushing up on my high school/college spanish but need to learn terms for "does it feel like a crushing chest pain?" a subject not covered in Spanish 1 at UF. I am also watching telemundo so I can converse about important things like telenovelas - never know when you might have to ask a pt about their marital woes, kidnapping by evil cousins , or long lost parents. Seriuously I am hitting up all my bilingual friends to practice on.

maybe you're right susan,

i plan on going back to TX to practice..and there is a lot of spanish speaking people there as well..I am actually trying to learn spanish now too..ive been listening to mp3s

guess french isnt going to be much use there is it. does like 98% of the class take medical spanish or what?

Actually there ia a large creole speaking population (Haitian)
 
I know this might sound foolish but how do you guys deal with procrastination/studying? i don't know but i've always found myself (in undergrad.)waiting till last minute to study for a test or studying only for a few hours when exam time comes. I'm a very hyper person and find it so difficult to sit still and read. ouch 🙁

I was a huge procrastinater when I was in college getting my undergrad degree (uf 1984) hence a less than stellar gpa but lots of great memories. I am older and wiser and discipline has come with age. It is difficult but you just have to do it like a job and alot x amount of hours and keep to it.

No. Most of the class did NOT take medical spanish last year.
1. It was a new program this last year, and therefore ppl were hesitant.
2. The program was a bit disorganized (to say the least)...refer to #1.
3. Of the ppl who did take it, many ended up dropping it. Those who did not drop it, didn't find it very helpful. For example, the book actually had as way of introduction: "Soy Gringo." ...not exactly an ideal introduction, we laughed very hard.

In defense of the program, there were problems...but it was new, they are trying to fix it. It may be better in future years.
 
I did have a problem registering for those 2 classes as well. I registered for all the classes I could on 5/31/06. But one of these two I was unable to register for. Maybe it is because we registered it too late
I emailed Leslie but I have had no response yet.

as for registering...dont worry...we are going to be registering for electives during orientation...so you DO have time...dont worry..and again i cant wait to meet all you guys..i plan on going down to FLL July 17th
 
ok for the record.. it seems you complete the loan entrance interview on the plus website of salliemae through nsu's website regardless of what lender you use. ie, you dont need salliemae as a lender to complete the entrance interview. k thanks dont die all!

i was thinking..for the get together...should we compile a list of dates and activities that have been suggested so far and then make a poll and send it to the listserve so everyone gets to vote and we can decide a place and time for the get together? 🙂

Looks like I'm moving down to florida (from Indiana)...It's been between NSU and KCUMB for a little while. I've already paid my deposit and I haven't heard a peep out of KCUMB (besides being waitlisted). So I will just go ahead and say hey to (what I am presuming) will be my class.

I called them and asked for the fax number instead. I do not remember it, but the scores were released within a 5-7 business days.

No, I honestly don't.
I know they had class at least one evening a week..and then had to meet up with small groups on top of that (usually over lunch). I was never involved with the program though...sorry.

I am on the listserv but I must have missed the e-mail. Who knows? Thanks for the info. I am anxiously awaiting the move to Davie (~7/10).
 
I was just admitted to NSU on Friday and I'm so excited. How bad is all the paperwork for NSU? I had been preparing to attend LECOM-Erie and had started all the procedures for them, so hopefully all these forms will overlap.

My names Lauren, orignally from Fl, working in NC at the moment. I hope I get to know everyone soon!
 
I cant get a hold of Linda Ferris!!! she prolly doesnt do much work..and avoids any type of phone calls and emails...either that or is on vacation every day

i was looking at the academ. calendar. on fridays for IGC there is group X and Y, but on the academic society thing groups are divided into a and B????
 
UGHHHHH!!!! So much for the improved registration I still am getting a conflict message!!!! Anyone having same issue?
