Hello, I was wondering if you guys could help with deciding between NSU KPCOM and Touro Harlem.
Pros of NSU KPCOM
-Beautiful Campus
-Seems to match people into competitive specialties
-I believe lecture is not mandatory (could be wrong)
-Really enjoyed the people in the information session
-Board scores are still not terrible
Cons of NSU KPCOM
-far away from home (I am from New York), residency might be in Florida
-Expensive
-A lot of talk about bad administration and internal problems (not sure if this is true)
-Declining Board scores possibly
-No cadaver lab
Pros of Touro
-Close to home and more familiar with New York City
-Lecture only being 3 times a week and not mandatory in 2nd year I believe
-Not as expensive as NSU KPCOM
-High board pass rates
-Grading based on Z score (everyone can get an A)
Cons of Touro
-Campus is one building that doesn't look that nice, also shared with pharmacy school
-Match seems to be almost all primary care fields with almost no specialties
-School opened in 2007 so still somewhat new
-Lecture mandatory first year
These are the main ones that come to mind. Please let me know if any of you know more information about the schools and have any recommendations. I am not sure exactly what specialty I want to go into but having the option of competitive specialties is nice to know. I also ideally would want to stay in New York but the resources at NSU KPCOM and possible competitive specialties make this hard for me to decide. Thank you everyone for all the help!
