NSUCOM Class of 2006!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Guys,
you dont' need to spend that much money to have a get together. I lived at Cedar Key (isn't one of you going to live there?)... and you can just have a pool party. The pool is relatively big... there are two grills out there, you are allowed to have alcohol (no glass bottles), its a great time. The weather in FL shoudl be good for another month or so, then it will get into the rainy season.

MAN I miss those days. Just having beer and chilling... oh well. I wouldnt' go back to first or second year even if you paid me.

And as for whoever was asking about NSU alum... it doesn't really matter where you go to DO school, COMP/NSU/UNECOM/KCOM... it all depends on the individual applicant! Obviously people on the west coast will go to more west coast residencies... but i know several people from NSU who have gotten into some really amazing residnecies (I'm sure the same can be said for other DO schools).

Good idea about the pool party (Bonnie and Quinn). That sounds great! 😀

How rainy is the rainy season? (I'm assuming you mean it starts in July).

Is anyone else living in Cedar Key with us? Anyone?

😀 There will be a chat on our website (www.nsucom2006.com) on Sunday at 9pm if any of you would like to join us.

Hey guys, when do you plan to have the get together...before or after school starts? Oh, and the so called "rainy" season here can turn into a real dry one...Ft. Lauderdale is not a rainy city...hehe

Is anyone looking at staying on-campus apartments? I was just wondering. 😕

Liz,
Casey and I are waiting to hear if we got into Cedar Key. We are still on the waiting list. If not, we will be in Poinciana but we are keeping our fingers crossed for Cedar Key.

The rainy season in S.FL starts aroudn June or so, lasts a few months. It downpours in the afternoon, but only lasts 10-30 minutes or so, but you'll get several inches of rain then...

I would definately have a bbq or a pool party. Its a lot easier to set up (just bring food and ETOH), a lot cheaper, and everyone can show off their pasty white skin.

Q

Eeeckk.. A lot to say and only a short time...

NUgirl: The beach could be a factor in choosing a medical school. I'm not sure if I'd mention that at an interview yet... whatever allows you to be comfortable. Gawd knows, I'm looking forward to laying out alot (esp with my complexion ).

I'm up on the pool party thing. A)Its easier and cheaper. B) More likely people are going to show up C) Less planning involved D)I want to see who I can drink under the table (that's a joke - I'm a 1-beer wonder) E) We can do it many times ... although, I do want to see Mickey...

Bonnie- I'm going to send you an email on the website thingy... let's see if we can hammer this out...

Anyone see the new Star Wars yet? Getting kinda 'romancy' I thought.. then again, Luke and Lea HAD to come from somewhere... Yoda was the man (err, the whatever it is) in this flick...

-A

Hey pool party sounds like a plan! I'm there, just tell me when. Nothing like getting to know eachother half naked and drunk.

I'm all for the pool party too!Bonnie is my new best friend!
No speedos boys...sorry if I disappointed any of you!!HAHA!

Wait a minute Shibby, who are you to nix the speedos? It's my party and I say we all get to be equally naked!!!

I think we should have one mid-July (any other July babies out there besides me?)... and then maybe another during orientation or something. Heck, we could have one long continuous one until classes start and just hop through each apartment complex...until we run out of EtOh (that is TOO funny). 😀

Hey Barb, I think we'd pretty much be neighbors either way (us New Englanders have to stick together), since Poinciana and Sunforest are virtually next to Cedar Key anyway.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet (said like only Cartman can say).

Six more weeks, six more weeks til Florida....

Hello future colleagues! I saw that Palm Trace Landings Apartments (on Davie Rd and Nova DR. , close to school) is offering $500 to any current resident that refers any new residents. If there is anyone who is thinking about moving into Palm Trace any would like to get some cash please let me know. I would split the cash with you. $250 FREE !! Especially when these apartment complexes take all our money anyway. Think what that could buy??? Books, equipment, free drinks for the entire bar…

By the way I am a current M1 at NSUCOM who lives at Palm Trace and have had no complaints living here. It's probably one of the nicer apartment complexes around the school.

Please contact me if anyone is interested.

Thanks

EEK! Brian, I can't get onto our webpage!!! Hope this is a temporary glich before the chat! I'll check back around 9ish.

Good Morning All, we had a great time chatting last night! It was great to finally meet some of you. 🙂

Nema told me (and I'm passing it on since it's important info): Mary at admissions said that we should be getting our orientation packets sometime this week (by the end of it anyway).

Yippie! 😀

Have a great day.

Boy we were slipping down too close to the bottom there. I hope that our packets come soon. It's still doesn't feel like I am actually going to be moving to Florida in just a few short months.

Hey guys, do any of you want to set up a specific chat time like we did this past weekend (big thanks to Brian for that one! 😀 ) Maybe we could all vote on a specific day and time that would be constant from here on out. What do you guys think?

That sounds good Nema, how is Sunday night for everyone? (you're welcome for setting up last week's chat...) 😛

In general are weekends better for people? It seems like we had more people later that night...so maybe around 10pm on Sundays is good? Give us some feedback, and we'll make it so.

😀

sundays at 10pm (eastern time) work good for me..............i was pissed that i missed the last one

Yo, 75 days to go, here we go! Bizzump!

Hey I finally posted my bio for the first time since our website blackout!!!.....

Another day goes by without the orientation packet... they lie to us, yes they do...beginning of May my a&%!!! Oh well, at least it's supposed to be coming soon.

Anyway, just wanted to say "BUMP!"

😀 Only 74 more days!!!

Man, I just realized that after we get orientation packets there will be, yet again, nothing to look forward too till orientation week.

Maybe I should move back to Ft. Lauderdale tomorrow...hmmmm....

Quinn Holzheimer is a ****ing dork! Don't listen to a word he says. Ask him about his Geronimo's escapades!

Love,
Classes of 2004 and 2003

I would ask him about geronimo but I've been admonished to not listen to a word he says. Hmph

Hi guys,

I know since I came up with the theory of relativity that a few apples have fallen from my tree, but I was wondering if you could spell out the steps of the financial aid process for me. I have competed the AFSA and rec'd my SAR. I spoke to NSU office of financial aid and they said everything looked good. Are we on our own to secure private funds for the rest of our out-of-state unfunded budget? What pitfalls/successes have you had so far?

Thanks

Hey Nema buddy,

Ya know that's not true, because the crew at Cedar Key will be holding some gatherings to get everyone together (and give them something to look forward to)...
Another day and still no packet. Has anyone talked to fin aid lately? What do we do about our private loans (I picked Wells fargo and I did it through the school)... last I heard that we get an application for them AFTER we get our gov't aid packages (which, at the rate NSU is going, won't be until after orientation starts...)

Just wondering and wandering along this path called life. 😀

Ohhhhhh...so ONLY THE CEDAR KEY CREW are gonna have this get together...I see how it is 🙁 ...well let the first schism of our class be formed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All thanks to Lizzy! 😡

Hehehe...just kidding!

On the FA stuffy(?)... This doesn't make sense to me... nowloans is my processor, salliemae is my servicer, yet the bank that is actually giving me the $ is first national of sioux falls... ya gotta figure, all 3 of them are making $ off me somehow... ho hum... I'm starting to feel like a $2 ***** at a navy yard

Anyway, I put all my loans through nowloans. I got my approval on my private loan yesterday via phone. Dispersement (sp?) depends on the school - as the bank sends the $ to NOVA - they gives me the $$.

I'm not really sure how working the FA through the school works... as I did mine on my own.

Vash, remember my friend - you have the party - I'll be there! I'm figuring we can do rotating parties at least 1-2-3-4-5-6-7x a week until classes start (then we'll drop it down to 2-3x).

-A

P.S. I hate computers 😛

Nema, I'm not trying to start trouble, I just don't remember the Davie Crossing(?) crew offering to start any parties...but we'll be happy to join you at your place of residence or ours... it's all about chillin'. 😀

Besides, you still owe me one, so now we're even (even though I didn't mean to imply that you weren't party-host ready.) 😛

The rotating parties seems like a good idea...I think unofficially that would begin our edumacation...consider it as pre-medical rotations....different specialty at each party. My "preceptorship" is all about the shots...who's claiming the kegg rotation?

Multiple, cold, imported and domestic Vash... Since it's going to be hot as balls in July I think we should get an ice block... at some colleges you attended this might be known as an 'ice luge', either way.. it's a very efficient and fun way to consume alcohol.... Either that or we can start IV's... either way... we must blow off steam before school starts.

I think the admissions people are training us for medical school already with this whole orientation and financial aid packet stuff. They like to get our hopes up and give us a nice series of let-downs. Don't they know I'm prepared for that already, those required classes for a biology degree were no walk in the park.
Anyway, can't wait to move. I went to the beach over here (west coast) yesterday and was bored to death. At least over there in Ft. Laudy daudy land you can watch the surfers (yummy). Hey, everyone needs eye candy. I hope they might need physicals one day. (just kidding) 😀 But it is a really fun sport to watch.
Alright, obviously I don't work cause I have all this time to write so I'm gonna go exercise and lay out. 😎
BTW: you people are confusing me about the party, where is it going to be? No one needs to be the host right, cause we're just showing up at a pool, aren't we? I mean, after all, we really don't need to give any of our fellow classmates the pressure of more responsibility.

Yeah, I already jacked some bannana bags from my dad's pharmacy...IV fluid recovery shouldn't be a problema! HEhe!

Well you guys are officially M1's since today was our last day of finals and we are now M2's. Congratulations!!!! Off to get some sleep before going out to celebrate tonight since I feel like I just went 10 rounds in the ring. 7 exams in five days wears on you! See you guys in a few months.

Let's give it up to Nova admissions for getting our packets to us so "early"! How bout it?!

A big ol' BUMP!!!

Okay people, what's in those packets? Mine hasn't come yet and I"m going away until next Sunday...so I won't get it until then...what kind of interesting info is there? 😀 Thanks!

Lemme retract my previous compliment...my damn packet has still not arrived yet either...that last post was a little premature. Anyone who got them, please fill all us unluckly souls what is in the packet.

Aw you poor people have no packets? There's an itinerary for orientation week, academic calender, info on health insurance plans, info on ordering scrubs and white coats and dissection kits, stuff for a physical exam and immunization, info for spouses/significant others, info on NSU card, and info on a bunch of the clubs, and some other random things. It's just nice to have something to look at for once and know a little bit better about what's going on. Still want to know about financial aid though.
I'm going down there this weekend for fun, anyone else going to be there?

Definately don't listen to anything I say... but I'll just mention that during our orientation week, we had a party at Geronimo's, and I woke up the next morning with dollar bills in my underwear...
Q

Hey *looks around* where did all the people go????? Major Bump-age!

Hey guys, chat time this Sunday, June 2nd, around 9ish? How bout it??

Sounds good to me! 🙂

Hey Guys...

I can't believe it's June already!!!!

Orientation is right around the corner...

I better start packing (a week before I leave) 🙂

Mike

I know!!! I'm ready to go. Did you see the hurricane predictions for this season (June-November)? 10 expected with 2 of those expected to make landfall in the US. I guess we'd better practice the evac procedures. Or stock up for a hurricane party

I'm glad I got on the second floor of my apartments.

Hey Everyone, I'm back (not that you noticed I was gone, but Vegas was nice, thanks for asking... didn't win any tuition money though... 😛 ).

I saw that hurricane prediction on CNN yesterday... they also recommended that people have emergency hurricane (disaster) kits in their houses in case of power outage, etc.... how much does flood insurance cost again?

I guess I'll be seeing everybody at the chat tonight at 9pm (if I make it that long...I just got up and I'm still exhausted). I'm just thinking of the tiredness as practice for the next eight years... 😀 he he he

Congrats M-2's!!!
