Speaking in general.

Would you go here?100% NOT true at my school.
I can't recommend Nova.Would you go here?
I know this comment is old, but I’m quoting it to make my point.Woah, 2 years in a row with lower than 90% pass rate. Almost 15% of the class failed Level 1 in 2016-2017. Wtf are they teaching their students? COMLEX Level 1 is a ****ty test but it has so many easy points that if you pay any attention at all during the first 2 years you should be able to pass it. Failing it is pretty atrocious, I am not surprised if it's the reason why these people failed to match. Did they even study?

I’m a 2nd year student here. They have an utterly idiotic system for making sure students are ready for COMLEX. You have 5ish dates in June set where you come in and take it. If you don’t hit 450 you come back AND TAKE THE EXACT SAME COMSAE!!!! Not to mention the huge group who lets the first set of kids take it then gets all the info on the exam so they can go in a week later and pass it on their first try. Then they sit for COMLEX and low-and-behold you have 40+ student FAILING LEVEL 1.
I seriously can’t even with this place right now. How freaking dumb do you have to be to think this is a good system for handling the COMSAEs!?
You know I agree with that, but the school is hurting those students who don’t want to skate by or cheat the system by not getting a handle on those who do. Just the effect on the school’s reputation hurts all of its students.Right, and this explains some of the failures. But for an individual student, if you don’t do those things, and prepare properly, then it doesn’t matter what other people do.

Wow this is bad. Either they are really dumb or just dont’t care at all about their students
What system should they use then? People are ready to/scheduled to take COMLEX at all different times in May and June. Should we make everyone take the first COMSAE offering before they’re ready? And push them into some terrible mandated board prep plan just because they couldn’t reach the mark (that is 50 over passing) 6 weeks before they were even going to take the test? Or should we make everyone wait to take it until late together, thus forcing people who were ready earlier to delay their exam 6 weeks?

Yeah I wasn’t really sure what other schools did. Most schools have one official date, and they’ll offer mock versions of it using combank exams or something similar.
The gestalt I'm getting is bothWow this is bad. Either they are really dumb or just dont’t care at all about their students
It's very easy to buy a shelf exam from NBME. They're excellent predictors of COMLEX performance as well. What system should they use then? I can't recommend Nova.
Nova has yet to release results of the 2018 COMLEX exam. They've only had one year to mull that over. Apparently they haven't shared this info with their own students, which is not a good sign.Wait I might have missed this, but are you going to recommend NSUCOM in your school list suggestions?
Nvm, just saw this. That's definitely reasonable.
That’s terrible what a bunch of *****s. Any school with sub 90 comlex pass rates should be shut down honestly. They have good entrance stats too so the curriculum must be god awfulNova has yet to release results of the 2018 COMLEX exam. They've only had one year to mull that over. The variance between different DO faculty is insane. I remember getting alumni emails from my school and I sent an email back saying if they fire XYZ I’ll donate but until then don’t waste the bandwith emailing me. And I went to a decent DO schoolThe gestalt I'm getting is both
This is true for MD schools as well. The variance between different DO faculty is insane.
Totally put this in wrong thread lolApparently their PA school has a doctorate program now. Was on their site scrolling around. Not just an optional doctorate but the entire PA program is entry to practice doctorate. Barf. I know they’ve had the DMs for a while saw it on reddit but this is new

Here I was hoping to get off the waitlist of this school, but reading this thread is making me nervous and dismayed (or should I be relieved that perhaps I'm dodging a bullet?)
My school has trouble with alumni because the successful (and even not successful) alumni we have refuse to work with the school lol. I shouldn't be laughing, but it's honestly hilarious when you think about it. I think most of our graduates wouldn't even proverbially piss on the school if it was on fire. Of course that would happen. Allegedly, our school would rather not work with a preceptor than them take less students or take students for only a certain set of months etc. Who are they punishing lol? This sounds exactly like my school lol.
I had an attending for a 4th year outpatient peds rotation that said my school usually contacts him to ask how many M3s he can take for the year. One year he tells them he only wants to take 4. They have the audacity to respond and tell him that the minimum he can take is 8. So he says "well then **** you guys I'm not taking any." Groveling and pleading from my school ensues and I believe he ended up taking the 4.
Time and time again i would hear from preceptors the same thing that they love our students and we're generally pretty awesome but the school is insufferable to work with.
At my school, any Clinical Dean stupid enough to piss off an attending like that would be fired. This sounds exactly like my school lol.
