Number of letters of recommendation

Hey I know most schools only ask for 2 -3 letters of recommendation, but welcome more. What is the average number of letters that should be sent?

I sent 4 last year to most schools (Tulane said 3 and no more). Seemed to work fine. I wouldn't send more than 6.

Have at LEAST 3 good quality letters of rec. to send (typically 2 science and 1 non-science). After that, the more the better (as long as they're good of course). I submitted 3 and didn't have a problem. Good luck.
