Hi everyone,
I've been hearing that we should be applying to more programs due to the fact that the competition will be higher this year since we no longer have to fly to programs and all interviews are virtual.
What do you guys think is an appropriate number of programs to apply to?
I have seen the AAMC point of diminishing return for residency applications however I don't know if this applies in the current environment.

TIA and good luck to everyone applying this cycle.

You might have luck posting in the psych subforum. I think there are already a couple of threads on this kind of thing over there.

Your best friend is to review the NRMP's "Charting Outcomes for the Match." You can see match rates for applicants based on how many programs they applied to, STEP scores, number of listed research experiences, etc. etc. to get a rough estimate of how many programs you should consider applying to. Working with a mentor at your institution can also provide helpful guidance.
