number of unmatched spots

Univ of Rochester(strong) is high on my list, but i noticed that they did not fill all the spots during the match last year.

The quote was 22 and they only filled 18.

Is there any significance to this?

Yup. It's why my PD told everyone who met with her to apply. They were surprised to see the surge of applicants from my school. They also got more agressive with recruiting this year I think, they sent me a nice, fairly long hand-written note 3-4 days after my interview.
