Most of the comments seem to be against the article and in support of anesthesiologists though, including one by a (supposedly) CRNA, which is nice.

I like the "barbers were originally doing surgery, so they must be superior to surgeons" comment regarding the author's (inaccurate) comment about nurses being superior since they were the first to use anesthesia though! Made me laugh.

Nice i just posted this on another thread. My favorite is the "CRNAs have put my three kids through school." Has the potential medical liability been discussed on this board before? Ex. Hospital A has an MD-only practice while Hospital B has a CRNA only group. B has a huge complication with a CRNA and since the standard of care in the area is MD = huge lawsuit? Especially since the writer of this article is in New Jersey where there is absolutely no shortage of anesthesiologists to work (and who work at almost CRNA salaries). Unless the jury is filled with card carrying AANA members, I find it hard to believe they wouldn't agree. Maybe the lawyers can work in our favor this time?

Kind of a funny thing, in the comments section the only people who want NAs to practice independently are the NAs themselves (and that's not even unanimous). Everyone else thinks they should have supervision and recognizes its importance. The law makers need to wake up and recognize the manipulation.
