Nuthin but HOLDS and REJECTIONS

Ok... here's my situation. I applied to 13 schools. Four have rejected me, I withdrew from one, I haven't heard from five, and three have put me on HOLD. None of these schools have interviewed me so I know HOLD doesn't mean waitlist. Does anybody have any idea what a HOLD really means?? I know what they have told me but I am thinking there's more to it. My theory is that they are waiting on this semester's grades. Any thoughts??

At which schools are you on hold?

I'm on "hold" if that's what you call it at several schools (About 8 of 'em). I called one school and they said they want to wait until after Dec 1st when they should have all of the applications in (Dec1 is their cut off date to apply) so they can weigh me against the total pool. I was told by another school that I am being considered for an interview, but I haven't hear anything yet... and they've all had my application since July.

I also know that school like USC only give out 1/3 of their interviews pre- Dec 1.

So hang in there! I have zero acceptances and 1 waitlist (and 5 rejections)- so I'm totally wilth ya.

I'm on HOLD at Pacific, Kentucky, and Marquette. Actually, KY and Marquette are the only ones that used the term HOLD for my application. Pacific says they are going to re-review. I hope it's a good thing. Maybe it's the pecimist in me but I just look at them as delayed rejections.

I also have a Hold from UKy. I still can't figure out what this means in terms of rank...compared to the wait list. I have no clue what this means in the long run. I don't think it's very good though.

Hey, Jim. I don't want to be a downer... I'm also on hold at Pacific. And I know that they send out most of their interviews pre-December 1st. So, if you after December 1st, you are most likely on the alternate list. That is, however, not to say that you can't get in. It's just that the odds for that particular school are kind of low.

A friend of mine applied last year and was interviewed in February or March at UOP. She was waitlisted. But in October of this year (she reapplied) she was notified that she will be part of the class of 2010.

I know this sounds daunting... but, still, keep your head up. Believe me when I say that I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE FEELING.

uhh i think "hold" is just to fill up the update space on ADDSAS. cuz they do rolling admissions so....

From what I understand those who interview after Dec 1 at Pacific still have a really good chance of getting in. Check around, and you will see this is the case. Good luck everyone.

I feel you guys.. I appled to 15 schools..5 pre-dec 1st interviews..2 of those have waitlisted me. 3 I'm sure are going to reject me...and I also have been rejected from 3 schools...i'm starting to feel like everyday one door closes and another one fails to open.

One waitlist, a bunch of nothing. 21/21/18 3.6 science and 3.5 cum. Normal shadowing (50 hours), a little volunteering at the community clinic, my wife is a chef and we make meals together for hungry kids at Kid's Cafe and I have a two year old. I am bilingual, have volunteered overseas/locally and the only interview I thought didn't go well was NOVA (I was sick).

Why no acceptance? Well, I guess I don't have the public health for AZ and I returned USC's required card on the Monday before Dec. 1st. NOVA interview didn't go so well and I am still thinking it might be another day before NYU's mailing gets to me. Temple? No clue. Wouldn't have changed a thing.
