NYC community programs

Longtime reader first time poster here - I've heard a ton of different things, hoping you guys can provide some answers:

How competitive are the community programs in NYC (talking Lennox Hill, Beth Israel, St Lukes, etc) for an AMG

I've heard everything from "you can pretty much have your pick" to "since it's NYC you still need a 235+ with all the trimmings."

Hoping to gain some perspective, thanks in advance.
