I thought this might be an interesting question for us to answer. So, how has the recent NYC terror threats swayed your view on moving to NYC. Has it had a dramatic effect such as "Cornell/Columbia was my first choice, now I wouldnt even think of going there", to "If accepted I'm going to NYC just to show these people I ain't skeered 😡 " Personally, it hasnt swayed my top choice at all. I'm gonna guess it hasnt yours either. I believe anyone who's willing to take on 7+ years of grad/med school isnt bothered by terror threats. 👍

I ain't never scared! tri-i is still one of my top 3 choices.

Don't ever let supposed terrorist threats prevent you from pursuing your dreams. I am undoubtedly probably going to go to grad school in ny, perhaps in nyc even--if i get in of course!

You're more in danger from the citizens of NY than the terrorists.

It's been cleaned up a lot in the last decade but it's still a very big city with all the psychos, gangbangers, and losers of any major metropolitan area.

I say this as a former New Yorker, not as some country bumpkin who's afraid of the city.

So, if you know handle yourself and talk a little crap back to the freaks, you'll do just fine. Don't let terrorism affect your life...that means they win.

ive lived in manhattan forever and theres nothing to worry about
yea theres freaks in every city, just be street smart and not some arrogant prick making yourself a target
nyc is a great place- but its NOT for everyone
personally im more worried about the RNC than terrorists!

I used to live on Morningside Drive near Columbia U and as a child I used to walk home from school. I now live in Houston. I visit NYC every year and feel just as safe as if I were in Houston. In fact, I feel that NYC is a lot safer than when I was a child so I don't believe that NYC is particularly unsafe for a major metropolitan area.
