I whole-heartedly agree with Nelle and DOnut! 😉 😉
Blue-Guitar9 ~ If you want to find an apartment ASAP and you don't mind paying a realtor fee - then I suggest you go to JIMCO Century 21 Realty or Caesar's Realty (They're both located in Glen Cove on Cedar Swamp Road - JIMCO is across the street from St. Patrick's Church and Caesar's is across the street from a bank) There's also Coristan Realty on the same street but I don't have any personal experience with them.
In general, I've found that the apartments that are rented through realtors are in much better condition than those that go directly through the landlords. Also, if you are pressed for time, you have a really good chance of finding a decent apartment right away if you use the help of a realtor.
If you use a realtor, Don't forget to mention that you are a MEDICAL student (Stress the MEDICAL part b/c they don't really like renting to the undegrad students)- they normally give about a 30% discount to NYCOM students.
Good luck house hunting!
