NYCOM - sGPA = 2.35 and MCAT = 41

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Im also an incoming NYCOM student and a fellow Stony Brook student and I know that NYCOM loves SB students. I feel like the sci gpa is a bit too low, if u can push that to a 3.00-3.2 you should be solid

Just do a year of retakes. They would probably want to take you but hesitate until you prove you can do well in the classroom.

Your best bet is to call the school and ask NYCOM about their specific requirements regarding abroad programs. You'd place yourself in the best position to succeed if you apply in June.

Oh, btw... what's a seawolf?

So it seems the best plan for me is to take about 12-15 credits over the Summer and about 15-18 credits in the Fall in order to boost my sGPA while still being able to make the Feb 1st deadline, as I really do not want to have to wait for the following cycle after that.

Would it be fine if the Fall semester was an abroad semester in Kenya or Madagascar? I'm not sure how med schools look at abroad programs.

Those classes are not going to remediate your sGPA. Rather than taking only new coursework, I agree with the suggestion above to take advantage of the grade forgiveness policy of AACOMAS, by redoing your worst science grades. But also, get some As in some first time science as well to prove your capability.

Keep in mind that AACOMAS will update your application if you send in a new official transcript after each term you complete after submitting initially.
