Anyone going to NYC for the program next summer? Im really anxious, and i've started saving up some money for it. My guess is that its going to cost about $1500 just for those six weeks. Has anyone else been through the program ? what was the experience like? Do you get freee housing and if not how much does it cost?

Ask my buddy "WannabeDPM" He went through the program last summer (2007). From what I remember, the tuition is free for those in college. If not, the cost is about $700. Furthermore, I believe housing to be $1125 for the 6 weeks. You still are responsible for food and such though but don't pay for utilities, internet, electricity, etc. Last summer, I believe nearly all the students stayed in Parkchester (some NYCPM apartments in the bronx) except for one girl who wanted to live in Draper Hall (at metropolitan hospital). Parkchester is a few subway stops away from NYCPM and they do not provide a shuttle there, so you must figure in daily subway costs as well.

Oh thanks.. need to start saving up some money. I just a mail from them about an internship program from Jan 9-11. Its free housing and no cost. do you think its worth going, i live in Dallas.. ticket price is about 192 right now

I think it's good if you are unsure about podiatry, wanna see if you can handle some of the science, and to learn the goods AND bads of NYCPM. I was seriously considering doing the program but I knew I wanted to go into podiatry, did not really have the money, and definitely did not want to attend NYCPM.

My buddy "wannabedpm" can give you the real deal on everything though. It sounded like a good experience overall.

why wouldn't you want to attend NYCPM? I was looking at the school..is there anything i should know

I will be there for the summer program as well. Haven't really looked into the housing yet. Was thinking of just going with the student dorms at 1st, and then look for an apartment after the program is over. You're not too far from me, as I'm in Houston. Let me know if you come across anything. Thanks

haha nice to see someone from around my neck of the woods.....i live in richardson!

hi!
I'll be there this summer and in the fall as well. I'm currently working on securing the housing, but NYCPM never sent me housing application. I might crash with some family that lives in the area for the summer to save the $1125.
Has anyone figured out roommate/housing situations for Parkchester? I'm definitely looking at rooming with someone.

Just FYI, for those enrolling in the summer program. If you call them up and ask them if they can help out with the cost of the summer program, they will reduce it to $350. That's what they did for me. But I got in at another school, so no point wasting time and money with the summer program. Good luck to everyone!

I am from Sugar Land, Tx which is basically Houston and I just started at NYCPM this past Jan.

Ya sugarland is basically houston for all intents and purposes. How do you like it there? I've decided to go to OCPM, as it seems a better fit for me. Plus NYCPM wants me to do their summer program before starting in the fall.

Hey i will be going there too. I am still not sure about the housing i don't know if i want to be in parkchester or metropolitan hospital.
