I just recently got accepted to NYMC and have 7 days to decide whether to go there. A few weeks ago, I made my decision to go to Temple and was really happy with it, and now I don't know what to do!! I live in NYC now, and I went to undergrad in Philly, so I'm familiar with both areas. Which school is ranked higher? Does it matter? Any opinions would be appreciated! Thanks!

You saw the schools and met the students when you interviewed. Which school did you think YOU would be happiest at? Forget about rankings.

run a search on a thread with almost EXACTLY the same title.

I would choose NYMC

Easy

I would Go Temple.

Much better clinical training.

Great city.

Good Luck...

Don't go to Temple!!

UCLACrewDude goes there...
:scared: :scared: :scared: :scared:

Actually, I don't know anything about Temple, but I agree that you should forget the rankings and go to the school you like better.

NYMC hands down. Good education, great facilities, and a very nice match list. And you don't have to move back to Philadelphia...

Having been to both schools I would say they are really equal in many ways but Temple has the edge when it comes to your clinical exposure because of the patient population diversity. It depends on what you are looking to get the most out of in medical school. You've should be very familiar with both schools so go with your gut.

uhhh, did you see temple? It had the ugliest facilities of any COLLEGE or med school i've ever visited. Sure, there are lots of sick people because its in a bad area, but i mean, you're also living there. I would stick with NYMC.

I mean, every school brags about something during their info session. At temple, the info session consisted of the woman telling us about the new chairs they ordered for the sitting room...and the med school that would be built by the time we graduated. And its as expensive as any other private school!

Jeez, i was depressed driving home from temple after my interview, for some reason i was convinced i'd be going there. Just because a few people say the clinical education is good there i wouldnt make that the only reason i went there. I am sure NYMC wll prep you much better and they do have really high board scores too, so your residency will be, ahem, tighter.

What exactly was so bad about the facilities? All I heard at my interview was that they were working so hard to improve them, but everything looked fine to me. I mean. . wireless internet throughout all of the health science buildings, the lecture halls and anatomy lab looked like your average ones - maybe better. I am not sure about what everybody says is so bad, but I thought it looked on par with any medical school I have seen. The library is small, but I don't really go much anyway. And contrary to what you said, you wouldn't be living there. You may spend a lot of time working, but nobody lives near the campus.
