Hey guys!

I've sent in my NYMC material early in Oct. but my status page still says, " In order to view your received evaluations your secondary application must first be processed by the Admissions Office" under "Letters of Evaluation Received."

This does not mean that my file is complete, right? Should I give them a call tomorrow and ask? I called before but no one picked up. Any advice?

I also applied there and when you call they are rather annoyed. The lady was like "umm you can check yo stat online". So i am not going to call anymore.

I've been "under review" for at least a month. Is that normal? What is the typical amount of time spent under review?

calling probably isn't going to speed it up...they have your stuff, just give it some time, they're all backed up right now.

I've been complete since 8/30 and "under review"

Should I be expecting a letter of rejection..........
sigh

My status isn't even "complete." I wouldn't worry about it though, they're taking a long time.

Anyways, I just called them and the lady I spoke to, who was less than pleasant but helpful, nonetheless, told me that my letters of eval were missing. That's very strange because my letters were sent by my college letter service successfully to 14 other schools... but oh well, there's so many ways things can %^@# up.

I've been under review since 08/02. I guess I won't know if that's as bad as it seems until I hear the final word.

heres another who has been complete since august with no word

booooo

i thought their average stats werent very high though? how instant love do they give?

I had to call them about 2 times. The first time I called seeing if my letters met the requirements. Then after they told me they didn't have all of my letters(my schools uses VE), I had to call again and ask them if they could please look again. They were agitated, but the lady found my letters. You could either have your school upload the letters to NYMC again or call back and ask them to please take a second look. Mention that your letters were sent together in a letter service.

You're giving a lotta boooos out there today.

But I can't say I wouldn't do the same.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooo😱

they are notoriously slow in processing, i was complete there at the end of august and i didn't get an interview invite until mid october.

be patient.. good things will happen

All,

Ive realized that there is no such thing as a back up school. There truly isnt. Even NYMC, with maybe their stats not showing up as unbelievable, is going to be hard to get in. Once again, if anyone would like to panic, ill be glad to join you.

Ned

I sent my secondary application along with my recs July 21........My file wasnt listed as complete until today, Nov 6.

Does anyone remember if we get a confirmation email after sending in NYMC's secondary and paying the fee??

I didn't. Just the request to fill out the secondary - then the invite and the info about the interview.

nymc's lists their stats as 30 and 3.5
that's pretty good for an average...

ha i actually didn't realize they had a status page until they sent me an interview invite.

"Your Secondary Application was completed on 10/13/2006 and is currently under review." calling them is a waste of time.

status page says complete since 10/5. Since then, all quiet on the western front...

Me too! Only problem is that by the time I chose a date, that day and the next 5 were suddenly full! They must have given out a bunch of invites at once today.

Finally...after 2 months of nothing from 22 schools, the invites are starting up again.

Heh,
I chose 12/19th. When did you choose? When i was picking, 12/13 and 12/18 were still available.

I just got an interview invite! YAY!

Same here. August MCAT (first time taking the MCAT)
My file was complete on 8/31 (besides the MCAt scores)
Got the invite this morning

For those interviewing at NYMC are you going to use the student host program?

I chose 12/13, yea they must of just sent out a mass email

Yea. I was complete since 8/30 and nothing until this morning 🙂!

Not sure if i'll be using the student host. I'll be home (NJ) by then so I might drive up the night before. Don't know if i'll stay in hotel or use the student host.

I read somewhere here that she contacted a student host to be her "host", but still stayed at a hotel (better sleep, more comfortable etc.)

Maybe i'll do that? Just to ask some questions the night before!

Anyways, congrats to all that have gotten the invite this morning. Seems like they sent masses of invitations out.

I wonder if we're the second or third wave of interview invites.

does it confer an advantage to interview early at NYMC? How fast is their turnaround time? What's the waitlist movement like? How many do they accept right off the bat?... anyone?

first interview was 9/25 which i was in. no one hears until december which is totally wack. i doubt interviewing earlier makes too big a diff besides the fact that seats get filled. i hear waitlist movement is pretty good since it's not everyone's top choice.

 Yeah right, we both know we would get the brush-off. MSAR says, Dec 4th which is a Monday. I wonder if they will just update the status page or email us. If we get accepted, this will be the greatest holiday season ever :luck:

Seriously man. You might here from Drexel before that right? Or get off the WL at EVMS? I think I might here from Meharry or UT-Houston before NYMC

I have a feeling interview invites will really slow down until after Christmas.

Hey Joy 😀 I never got to say grats on GW!!!!!! You must be so relieved. I forgot, but is GW your top choice?

Until I saw this thread I didnt even know they had a status page. I received a confirmation when I paid for the secondary online ( if I remember correctly ) but I now checked the status page and I have been completed since August but havent heard from them. I was worried until I read the other posts here.

Thanks! It feels unreal, hasn't sunk in yet, esp since I'm struggling thru grad school midterms and trying not to flunk out. GW is tied for my first choice with Loyola, and I will be there tomorrow. If I get in there it will be a terribly difficult choice to make. I have family in Chicagoland and I'm from Ohio.

I can't wait to see you and Rob on the acceptance list--you really deserve it.

If I get in, I will definitely have to go to a Second Look or schedule one. I forgot about everything, except that cool Anatomy lab.

Loyola is unbelievable. You will love it, guaranteed. I have never visted GW so I can't give a comparison. But I am confident that you will choose Loyola over GW 😉 I am still waiting on those fools to, I have 4 oos interviews and 0 IS ones, what gives 🙄

They are seriously fools DVN. I'm 0 for 6 for Ohio schools even though I lived my entire life until last year in Ohio. (Ren voice) IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDiots!

My husband has a great job here in DC, so it means we may stay, but Loyola is incredible. And yeah...NYMC has the most amazing anatomy lab--cooler than any I've ever seen and with WINDOWS!

lol i got held/rejected at all SUNYs already (except stony but that's a pending rejectino im sure). no IS love in NY either haha.

I got all of you beat. I was complete at NYMC on July 31 and I've been under review ever since. But I have a friend last year who was complete in august, interviewed in April, and was accepted and is now a first year there. So I'm not giving up on them yet. I'm holding onto a shred of hope.

Point made--state residence sometimes means nothing.

Rob, we should get an apartment in Texas 😛

Joy-I can see why you would pick GW over Loyola now, I guess thats an ok excuse 🙂 But hey, I am sure there is an excellent job out here in Chicago for husband, I mean it is only the third largest city 😉 When you go to Loyola tomorrow, pay special attention to the Gym, that alone might entice you to go there.

Now those would be some fun times.

OMG it is fantastic--I've seen it before...and not too far to walk when it's so cold your nose is about to fall off (ah, bitter Chicago winters...). DVN, if Loyola wants me, hubby will look for opportunities 😀

if it helps all you anxious people out... i got an interview invite to nymc in april, interviewed in may, and got accepted in june. anything is possible.

Thanks for giving hope! I commiserate with those playing the sucky waiting game.

12 weeks is too long to wait. I wish they would make up their minds already.

I was wondering what you guys thought about NYMC.. What are the positive features of this medical school? I heard there is a juvenile facility somewhere on campus and a psychiatric facility nearby... Ppl I have talked to, dint like the school very much, but they do not go to the school. Is there anyone out there who could tell me why they would want to go to NYMC?
