NYMC Waitlist Movement 2007

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
cool 😛 im not calling them anymore, i get scared asking "is the WL moving" : ) sometimes i think the sec might come through the phone and strangle me.

so i think the first batch of waitlist acceptances went out on 5/23 and then a second batch 6/5 or so.. so i guess maybe they send acceptances every 2 weeks after those people who were pulled off decide? Do the people who got in off the waitlist have 2 weeks to decide?

i hope not :/ to think ihave a shot only every 2 weeks would kill me haha.

I second that mms2k7...i hate all this waiting...hopefully it comes with some good news soon!

someone wanna risk a call to the ad office 😉 find out how they do it?

nymc is seriously killing me!! at least this weekend will provide some respite because i know the adcom won't be meeting and sending out acceptance emails.

really? weekends are the worst for me 🙁 no emails...2 days where the adcom wont consider u for an acceptance...cant call them 😛 etc

How do you know about waitlist people being accepted on May 23. I couldn't find anyone who posted about 5/23

there was one person on the official waitlist acceptance thread, and another person i think in the thread "nymc won't accept people till june" thread, so i'm assuming there were many others not on this site that were accepted then too.

Keep your chins up guys! Just withdrew from NYMC yesterday to go elsewhere... so there is a spot somewhere out there. Good Luck! 🙂

bump!!!

hey mms, are we the only people waiting to hear? ahhh!!!

hah if thats true 😛 our odds are decent then, no? :luck:

oh that would be an ideal world... i meant on sdn! it seems like no one has heard recently, so maybe that 2 week theory is legit. i am afraid to call nymc and get specifics tho about the process, because they never give any.

That's the story of my life these days....waiting, waiting, waiting, 3 waitlists.

I'm waiting too. looks like nymc hasn't given out acceptance since last week. not sure what that means but i guess if they are going to accept ~50 they need some time do review the profiles.
for those who are on the waitlist, when did you interview?

November 11th-ish... yup, that's a long time waiting..

i interviewed jan 31st and waitlisted april 20th-ish. i'm thinking they may be reviewing the apps starting from those waitlisted the latest. i got that impression cus those who i know got off the waitlist are placed on the wailist late. (may)

i got a waitlist letter end of march, yet online my status says a decision letter was sent april 12 by mail...weird.

They just rarely update the online info. I was waitlisted in early January, but it didn't say decision sent until late Feb.

whoa... so i just called the admissions office, and the answering voice message said the office is closed from today at 11:30 AM until tomorrow 9:00 AM! maybe they are all meeting today and getting something done since no one has heard from last week!

Thanks for letting us know!

I heard about this “Waitlist Party” meeting last year. I guess what happens is that they all get drunk and start tossing application file wildly at a top hat in the center of the room. The rules are simple, if an ADCOM gets your app in the file, you get accepted. If an ADCOM hits the hat, but does not get it in he/she must do a body shot off of the dean.

Best of luck!

???

friggin sweet..i hope they are meeting... and boo to the person posting about the drunk party 😛

heyy im also wait-listed at NYMC... can we get some stats goin here so we can kinda get an idea of where we all stand?

GPA 3.5
MCAT 33
07 grad with BS in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior

holy ****t how the hell r yall both not in at NYMC, not to mention any other medical school... especially Mr. 38 MCAT there?

Too nervous during my interview. I did better in my next one, but it was a harder school to get into...so I got another waitlist.

bump!! anyone hear after the adcom's meeting yesterday??

ummm yea where i stand... i thought maybe i had a chance of gettin off the wait-list, but after seeing this..yea none 🙁

lol...hopefully ill get off the another waitlist

i guess i'll join in the list

MCAT 36P
GPA: 3.60

to amfashizzle: well... obviously nymc has accepted many applicants with your stats first round. so keep your hope up. i am.

well today is a bust...i hope movement occurs soon...i hate this wait....and for everyone waiting, are you waiting on NYMC as your first acceptance?

Hello, I am just finishing my first year at NYMC. I hate to break this to you guys, but the reason the office was closed the other day is that it is finals week. The second years were done a couple weeks ago, and us first years have our final miniboard exam tomorrow. No offices have been open this week. The only people around are security, first year students, and the exam proctors/instructors. Sorry guys....but good luck....

are you guys already holding acceptances at other schools and waiting for nymc or on other wait-lists? i don't get how ppl way above the nymc average are not in?

i'm on other waitlists but no acceptance yet.

If you honestly believe that everyone who is above a school's average stats is going to be accepted, I'm afraid you entered this process unprepared and misinformed. An average is simply that, and average. Some of our class is above, some of our class is below, and a good chunk is right at the average numbers. If a person got rejected with a 38 MCAT and a high GPA, there could be hundreds of reasons....poor PS, weak ECs, bad interview, late applicant, or perhaps just bad luck. Maybe the school is looking to fill certain demographics and they didn't need anymore of the student X "type." The school will only be open in a small capacity over the summer...preparation for new student orientation, summer research projects, etc. I would suggest that you stop calling the admissions office. One of my good friends in my class was actually accepted off the waitlist last year, and he got an email in early June. If you are going to be accepted, it will happen via email sometime in the very near future. Orientation begins in late July, so if you still have not heard in another couple of weeks, I would suggest making alternative plans. You will not accomplish anything by calling the office over and over again...trust me. They will not give you any information that will be of any use to you.

Your logic cannot compete with our angst. Thanks for trying to keep this in perspective.
