cool 😛 im not calling them anymore, i get scared asking "is the WL moving" : ) sometimes i think the sec might come through the phone and strangle me.
bump!!!
hey mms, are we the only people waiting to hear? ahhh!!!
I'm waiting too. looks like nymc hasn't given out acceptance since last week. not sure what that means but i guess if they are going to accept ~50 they need some time do review the profiles.
for those who are on the waitlist, when did you interview?
i got a waitlist letter end of march, yet online my status says a decision letter was sent april 12 by mail...weird.
whoa... so i just called the admissions office, and the answering voice message said the office is closed from today at 11:30 AM until tomorrow 9:00 AM! maybe they are all meeting today and getting something done since no one has heard from last week!
I heard about this Waitlist Party meeting last year. I guess what happens is that they all get drunk and start tossing application file wildly at a top hat in the center of the room. The rules are simple, if an ADCOM gets your app in the file, you get accepted. If an ADCOM hits the hat, but does not get it in he/she must do a body shot off of the dean.
Best of luck!
Sounds like a plan. Where do you stand?
MCAT 38M
GPA 3.4
2005 Grad w/ Chem major.
Usual EC's (no research)
Triple major?
holy ****t how the hell r yall both not in at NYMC, not to mention any other medical school... especially Mr. 38 MCAT there?
Hello, I am just finishing my first year at NYMC. I hate to break this to you guys, but the reason the office was closed the other day is that it is finals week. The second years were done a couple weeks ago, and us first years have our final miniboard exam tomorrow. No offices have been open this week. The only people around are security, first year students, and the exam proctors/instructors. Sorry guys....but good luck....
are you guys already holding acceptances at other schools and waiting for nymc or on other wait-lists? i don't get how ppl way above the nymc average are not in?
If you honestly believe that everyone who is above a school's average stats is going to be accepted, I'm afraid you entered this process unprepared and misinformed. An average is simply that, and average. Some of our class is above, some of our class is below, and a good chunk is right at the average numbers. If a person got rejected with a 38 MCAT and a high GPA, there could be hundreds of reasons....poor PS, weak ECs, bad interview, late applicant, or perhaps just bad luck. Maybe the school is looking to fill certain demographics and they didn't need anymore of the student X "type." The school will only be open in a small capacity over the summer...preparation for new student orientation, summer research projects, etc. I would suggest that you stop calling the admissions office. One of my good friends in my class was actually accepted off the waitlist last year, and he got an email in early June. If you are going to be accepted, it will happen via email sometime in the very near future. Orientation begins in late July, so if you still have not heard in another couple of weeks, I would suggest making alternative plans. You will not accomplish anything by calling the office over and over again...trust me. They will not give you any information that will be of any use to you.
