Not sure why anyone would take up an unsolicited offer that came through an email - for publishing or conferences. There is a prince in Nigeria that wants you to publish.

I'm sorry, but I find this hilarious.

Part of the "prestige" of being published isnt just that your work is out there; it's that your work is valued enough that a journal wants that work to represent them. I suppose many people probably havent thought about how meaningless it is once you can pay to publish.

I hate how open-access gets confused with pay-to-publish. They're very different things. The former is a good idea and the latter is a bad idea.

Ditto. It casts a bad name on truly reputable open access journals and really muddles things.
