NYU Acceptances?

i must say, i only just stumbled upon this thread today and am SO GLAD i am not suffering alone (anymore 😍 ). while reading the entire thread, i literally laughed out loud in relief that i am not the only one obsessively checking their mail and thinking of stalking the NYU admissions office.

i interviewed Dec. 15th, live in NYC, and still have not heard anything!

Just wanted to second that. I called today and they said that acceptances are sent in till end of this week. Good luck to us
 
Anyone know what sort of accomodations NYU provides during second look weekend? Do they pay for your travel/lodging (I know some schools do), or is it pretty much left to the applicants to arrange travel to NYC?
 
i live in upstate ny, interviewed first week of october and just got the letter today, theres still hope for all

Interviewed end of September got acceptance today, postmark was 1/24--I guess that's why it's called snail mail. Best of luck to everyone waiting.

I'm joining this thread, in an effort to be in solidarity with my fellow anxious NYU-hopeful pre-meds.

i really really want to get in, too. If I get the acceptance letter this week, I will open a bottle of champagne for all of us. Congratulations to those who got in, and hopefully I'll be joining you soon (and some of the others here too).

Oh, btw, a friend of mine here said that the committee was supposed to meet either this week or last week for those that interviewed past a certain date in November, which corresponds to the way most of the acceptances have been shipped.

haha... no actually, this is a friend of mine who interviewed early october who got his acceptance last monday in hawaii (!). what's funny is that he got his parents to ship the acceptance letter here to LA, but the letter got lost in the mail (he said a homeless guy took it, which is not surprising considering the area). anyway, he had to call the office to ask for another letter and also asked about when the acceptances would be coming until. so, i think he heard it first hand from someone at NYU (I have a hard time beliving he'd make something like that up anyway).
 
interviewed in mid sep., recieved acceptance 1/30, postmarked 1/26. see you all there.
 
omg, good luck to everyone! it's coming soon, i can feel it! i went out for chinese food today and my fortune cookie said that 'soon, a visitor will delight you'. i like how i took it to be the mailman. *sigh* 😛
 
I decided to go ahead and call to hear for myself..

the lady who answered the phone said that they would be sending out letters until Feb 15. I asked if this meant they would be sending acceptances until 2/15, and she said they would be sending "all letters" up to that date.

the waiting is killing me.

has ANYONE who interviewed in NOV. or DEC. received their acceptance yet? has anyone received a rejection letter? waiting is so frustrating.. :meanie:

just to let you guys know, I think that NYU will tell you over the phone whether you got in or not over the phone. I called today and they told me that my application has gone through the committee but that it was now in the Dean's office, waiting to be finalized by him. (I'm guessing it can go either way for me at this point). So, I'll call back on Friday to see what has happened...I really hope I got in, just like all of you.

Anyway, I was wondering if any of you, like me, have been trying to search last year's threads to see how the admissions process at NYU works and also when the letters would be going out, etc. Do most of the letters come out in batches; i.e. have most of the acceptances been handed out already and there are only a few spots left?

Let me know if you guys have any thoughts on this. But, also, to tell you the truth, I'd rather be rejected than waitlisted because waiting *@#$ing sucks.

did you call and ask to check the status of your application and then they asked for your name etc...? Also, did they give you an eta for your letter?
 
Yes, I called for the status of my app. I think NYU has been known to provide decisions over the phone (once they've been made). Alos, they asked for my AMCAS ID and name, and I don't know what an "ets" is.

The link to the site is right on the medical school admissions page. I found it while actually looking for financial aid stuff. Really have no idea if we should start filling out forms. The informational booklet is helpful and gives details on reimbursements for flights and hotel accomodations.
 
Just thought i would give everyone a heads up because I know it has been asked in this thread. 1st day of class for 1st years is Monday, August 28th. The week before (starting Aug 21) will most likely be orientation. This means they will probably let you move into student housing starting on Fri, Aug 18. This accoring to the recently released academic calendar for next year.

Me: is it possible to find out if my letter was sent out yet?

Admissions woman: The last of the acceptance letters went out yesterday, waitlist and rejections are sent out starting today until the 15th. (In more words actually.. this sentence was expanded to occupy 5 minutes of my time)

Me: so is that a no?

Admissions woman: Oh...Yes.

yes, there seems to be so few people who got accepted. do you think that many were sent out in yesterday's batch??

it is strange that so few on sdn have been admitted...the number on mdapplicants is pretty tiny too...whats more odd is that they accept people that have a 40 MCAT and went to Harvard-- hah-- as if there was any way in hell that person is going to nyu (even with scholarship money)

i eagerly await my mailman day after day...only to be heartbroken when all I get are bills bills bills and advertisements...............................I flip through all the envelopes super fast, looking in the corners for "New York University".............................sigh~
