Sometimes I feel, the way we discussed Stats like Part1, TOEFL, GPA are not the correct way. The other things like experience, re-applicant, reco and SOP are equally (rather I feel more) important. If universities are giving more weight to Part1, TOEFL, GPA and higher degree in foreign then I would be definitely in first batch or top list.

Keep fingers crossed, don't compare yourself with anyway..Do your best and keep trying improving your profile in all sense (not only Part1, TOEFL, GPA)

I don't believe that's true. Many schools have set their minimum required part-1 scores. CA schools have withdrawn their criteria recently just because of 2010 single attempt rule otherwise they were also demanding minimum 80-85 part-1. And for BU with 75 seats all know they don't go below 87🙁.
Furthermore,I know one person who was applying with 82-84 part-1 since last 2-3 years with no luck. But just before this 2010 rule he played his last shot and got 88. With that score he got 2 IVs and got accepted in one. Point to note here is he didn't improve any other part of his application!

I don't want to discourage anyone but this is the reality and I couldn't resist myself showing frustration😡

Hi everybody, don't forget that we are when schools have to look for a divers student body. Your GPA from your own country... not important. Everybody knows what I'm talking about. If somebody with a GPA of 3.5 gets 82 on NBDE than, not very good, but let me tell you and ask anyone that got accepted that experience working in US is by far the most important. Letters of recommendation from faculty if you attended a college here is crucial, from a US trained doctor is very important too. So, let me place them in order. You have to have all the papers that school are asking for, just to have them check the boxes. Then, you experience in US, letters of recommendation from a US faculty, (your teacher), letters from US trained doctor that you WORKED for, then your cultural diversity or something special that you can bring to the program. I have been around for a long time so can tell you being comfortable with the patients and being able to know the cultural differences plays a important role in your acceptance. The interview is critical too, you have to prove that you are eager to learn and that school that interviews you is capable to teach you, and you are willing to be community oriented and go and serve the community whatever you may live in.

this thread has been created to know number of applicants and if candidates with low score stand a chance...stats are most important, but yes agreed experience, rec letter, sop, etc also are taken into consideration...

i feel candidate having >90 nbde score has better chance than the one who has the best profile with a low nbde score...

I have a question to those scored above 87, why a three course? why not a two year course?

Telling you from my exp that the score alone does not get you anywhere, look at the scores that applied to NYU for 3 year school as 2 years. So, got to have everything else aside from score.

all of you guys can you share your stats as well as the other experiences... so that we may make out, something about the pattern of "eligible students" nyu would select for interview as well as accpetance.... and later we can improve ourselves to tht....
guys lets post our favourable points here eg stats, experience, publication, visa status etc.... and later when nyu invites any of us, the others can self judge... common on no one would come to us to fine tune us except our efforts... so lets help each other...
