Is it too late to add these schools through AMCAS? Are most of their interview slots filled and do they have a long secondary application?

It's too late to add NYU. The deadline for NYU was 11/1. However, you still have time to add Drexel-deadline 12/1. The Drexel secondary is easy since there's no essays. You just relist your activities and fill out some other stuff. I'm not sure about the number of available interview slots at this point. Maybe another SDNer will know.

Thank you. Just found out Drexel doesn't consider Canadian applicants. I guess no more secondaries for me.

actually i would be interested to know about interview spots left at drexel if anyone has that info. I just added drexel today and I am definitely curious to know how behind I may be for them. thanks!

are you sure about this?? where did you get this info? i was under the impression that they were canadian-friendly. i could easily be wrong though.

do they screen (drexel)?

Nope, the MSAR has them listed as sending secondaries to everyone. They they interview about 10%+ of their respondents, and accept 1/3 or so of those.

According to US News, Drexel interviews about 27% of out-of-state applicants and offers acceptances to about 64% of those people.

May I ask when you were complete?

I'm trying to schedule a Drexel interview now and I'm curious to get other people's opinions on how it compares to other schools they may have interviewed at? By this I mean personal impressions, not stats and all that other info. I'm also a little worried about the neighborhood it is in, I keep hearing negative feedback on that. Thanks!!!

I interviewed there in September and was pleasantly surprised with the school. Everyone I met was very personable and the interview day was really relaxed. I could definately see myself there...As for the area--I didn't think it *that* bad. From what I could tell, one way was a little dodgy and the other way was a decent residential area. They also have a shuttle that runs all day long from Center City, so you could live there and shuttle to the school (approx. 20 mintues)<--which is what I will do if I attend there.

That's exactly right. Philly is weird in that a block or two makes a huge difference in terms of area. There's a street at one end of campus that, if you cross it, leads to a fairly ghetto area. However, the school itself is in a nice residential area, and if you stay there, you'll find that it's mostly extremely nice houses and parks. There is also an area called Manayunk a short distance away that has a lot of cafes, restaurants, etc. Bottom line -- I wouldn't worry about the area. I think it's actually quite nice for the most part.

Does anyone know about NYU? How many interview slots they might have left, I mean? I've been complete with secondary since late August, I wonder if they are just waiting to reject me.

i dont know that many people who have even heard from NYU- whats the consensus

According to someone on the admissions committee who came to speak at my school, NYU still had about 30% of its interview slots available as of last week.

i just scheduled an interview at drexel for the end of January (the earliest date they have). the admissions office told me that all of february (after Feb 1st) is pretty much full because they have some "special program" (?? not sure what that is) scheduled. but they do have available interview slots in March.

I was complete at the end of Oct...i think. and i received the invitation dated Nov 1st. hope this helps. 🙂

It's kinda scary to hear that NYU is almost booked up! It's my top choice and I'm worried to call and check my status because they're probably swamped. 🙁. Has anyone tried to call?

i hear ya

NYU's applications doubled this cycle with the initiation of amcas use for the first time. Unfortunately there is no concurrent increase in the number of people being interviewed.

Yeah. It went from about 4000 applications last year to about 8000 this year. = (. Why couldn't they have started using AMCAS next year?!

From the interview info: NYU had 7000 applicants and is interviewing 800 this year for an entering class (matriculants) of 160.

Doesn't NYU do a pre-secondary screen? Did they screen before?
