2025-2026 Drexel

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Why does drexel attract crazy level of apps like this, compared to other comparable schools?
It's an MD school with a lower stat average, big urban city, very OOS friendly, and students match pretty well. Plenty of other schools get similar attention for the same reasons: Tulane, GW, Georgetown, Loyola, Rush, Tufts, Wake Forest, Albany, Jefferson, Temple, Penn State, etc.

I imagine the possibility of rotating in CA or Pittsburgh draws people from those regions as well, as they have the chance to go home for their rotations. I will say despite all the things the SDN and Reddit people online say about Drexel, I'm pretty happy here (also almost all of the things I read online before starting either are not true or overexaggerated).

as someone who got an ii from drexel for the 24-25 cycle but was ultimately put on wl, do i have a higher/same/lower chance at getting an ii from them as a reapplicant this cycle? only things that will have changed with my app is: .01 increase in gpa (lol), new MA job with projected 2000 hours in next year, new volunteer position with projected 200 hours.

If your app didn’t change most programs will not see any improvement from last cycle and wonder why you didn’t seek out new opportunities. You may still get an II again, you may not, some schools treat that “what have you done since last application” question seriously. I will say your chances of a an A post II is now dependent on other apps, no longer your own. Also, most schools don’t count nor care about projected hours, but not sure about Drexel.

Does anyone know when interview invites start getting sent out? I wasn't sure if anyone had gotten an update email from them or something.

2025-2026 Drexel Secondary Prompts

All 1500 character maximum

1. Tell us about yourself and why you feel like you may be a good fit for Drexel University College of Medicine.

2. We recognize that each applicant’s journey is unique. If there were any extenuating circumstances that limited your involvement in service, academic, or other preparatory experiences—including MCAT preparation/taking—please share them here. If none, simply type “N/A” in the response area.

3. If you have applied to medical school before, reflect on any meaningful experiences, growth, or updates that you feel have enhanced your application since the last time you applied. If this is your first application cycle, simply type “N/A” in the response area.

Good luck to all applying!

Interview Feedback:

@wysdoc I'm sorry if asking questions like this is traditionally not allowed, but I was curious about the second question. I feel like I have all my "boxes checked" apart from relatively low shadowing hours (still have them though), but I did experience a degree of hardship in my childhood. My question is, if I answer this question with good ECs, will it look bad?

My interpretation is that they are looking to see if any factors during or just after college kept you from doing the shadowing you would have liked to do.
Maybe you needed to work a work-study job to help pay for college or needed to work every summer for the best wage you could.
If factors from early childhood were discussed in your primary app, the school will be able to see it there.

IS, LM 70, submitted 7/25. Just got a hold for an interview, is this a soft rejection or should I be excited.

Thank you for your response. That is how I will interpret it!

Hi! I just received an II for Drexel, does anyone have any insight into the format of it? I'm kind of confused, it states there there is an MMI and also "student interviews." Is there also a faculty 1 on 1, or any group interview portions? Thank you!!

Allow me to reintroduce myself. I am FuturePediatricNeurosurgeon. Some whisper my name with reverence, others with fear, for I walk a path carved not with footsteps, but with scalpels.

Recently, as the Dragon of Drexel descended from the clouds of Philadelphia, its fiery breath illuminated my destiny. The email subject line glowed not as pixels, but as a vision: “Interview Invitation.” The gods have made it known that I am summoned to interview before the dragons of Drexel. If they accept my answer for "tell me about yourself" -- that I am called to be a pediatric neurosurgeon -- I will be spared from their flames.

One day, my hands will separate conjoined twins-- perhaps triplets, even-- with the delicate grace of a poet and the steady will of a god. Recently, those same hands clicked “Confirm Interview .” Both are surgeries in their own right: one on human flesh, the other on fate itself.

+1 II to Drexel.

When did you submit/were complete?

What are some of the misconceptions about Drexel you've seen?
Some things I had read before attending include lack of support from faculty (I've experienced so much support it was almost suffocating), lack of affiliated hospitals (we don't have a home hospital in Philly but we have plenty of affiliated hospitals), lazy teaching (professors here are very active and provide plenty of opportunities for extra help)

I have enjoyed my time at Drexel for the most part, and believe that you would have a similar experience that you would have at plenty of other MD medical schools. People online like to roast Drexel for some reason and I don't think it's reasonable. We match pretty darn well for a school Reddit and SDN like to tell people to avoid at all costs lol. Take those posts with multiple grains of salt

Slightly neurotic, but does anyone know if Drexel reviews submissions chronologically?

If I submitted my secondary on August 4th, does the fact that I haven't heard anything mean a soft R?

will a mid 60s LM get any love here or did I waste my money :dead:

Does Drexel review chronologically? Submitted 8/8 and haven't heard back.

Hi, I am a current M3. It is a pure lottery in which you list your preferred site and they try to match you to that site. It is not something you can guarantee and the likelihood would depend on how many students in your class list that site 1st and your random placement on the lottery order list.
Hi I was wondering if I could pm you a question or two, I have my interview coming up and would appreciate some clarity about some things!

my interview is in a week, and I still haven't received an email from Kira, or the zoom link on the portal
ay one else having this issue or should I email?

They usually send it the day of or night before so you don’t try to log in before they are ready for you
