NYU From Jersey City....Anyone?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hey Cavity Buster,

I was actually thinking about doing that but my "gonna be roommate" (who knows more about NYC than me) says that its gonna be a long commute.

Do you know how long?? I just figured that living in Jersey City as opposed to Manhattan would be a little cheaper.

Anyways lemme know what u think.

4 more weeks???

Jersey city to NYU from door to door will be about 45min to an hour. The PATH takes around 25min from Journal Square to 6th and 23rd. And from there its a 12-15min walk

I just got a place in Hoboken NJ and it is 30 min from door to door. I pay $1650 a month for a 2 bed 2 bath. it has central air and the landlord pays for water, sewer, hotwater, and gas for the stove. All I pay is electric and heating. The place is about 1000sf

Damn that sounds like a good deal. Care to share the phone number of the landlord Broc???

Broc, that's a sweet deal for Hoboken. Damn! However, is heating electric? If so, that may run you a lot in the winter. Then again, if you're on an upper level floor, heat rises.

Nope...heating is gas. And I am on the top floor of my building (6th floor). The people that live in the place now say they pay as low as $35 and as high as $90 each month for electric. They said the building is very efficient.

I am so glad I found it and NO BROKER FEE!!! I found it at http://newyork.craigslist.org
Although it took a lot of work to find this place...now I see why some people pay the crazy broker fees
