Hey friends I was looking at the dental school ranking on different websites and I found out that NYU's No. in not even in the first 25 on some websites they have given NYU 50 rank 😱 and BU 53 😱 Even some of the dentist i work with as a assistant they said NYU is the worst dental school!!! So i am worried. I have been accepted in NYU and waiting for BU. Where should I go? What you people think about this? Please do reply.

NYU is a pretty good program. The rankings which they publish are mostly based on stats of the incoming class (DAT scores and GPA). Since NYU is expensive, most ppl who get good scores prefer to go to cheaper schools so that they graduate with a smaller loan to repay.

BU's problem is lack of clinical exposure. But the program is pretty decent. And for FTDs, since we already have some clinical exposure in the past, the lack of it should not be a big deal for us at BU.

My advice is not to worry about rankings. Both BU and NYU will give u a high paying job once u graduate. The question is whether u have the luxury to choose a program which enables u to graduate with a smaller loan.

NYU is indeed a very very good school.

US dental schools are not ranked!THERE ARE NO RANKINGS!!!Moreover there are several posts regarding this matter!Even the ranks given by US news (1993)is crap!so dont go with that!NYU is a good school with a good reputation!🙂

man I am not trying to offend here but I am just concerned I just got accepted and I am going to NYU 👍 But when I said this to doctors where I am working they told me that this school is not good they accept too many students and failure rate is 30% over there so I looked at the ranking on diff sites and I got confused

hi
i got aaccepted at nyu and uconn........u conn is very inexpensive......but i have planned to attend nyu........what do you guys think about my decision........As program at uconn is probationary for one yr......if they dont like our performance........they dont let us carry on......and after working so hard i dont want to take any risk......plus i consider the more patient exposure and technology ....at nyu......
but on the other hand uconn has highest....faculty student ratio in nation....
kind of confuseddddd........any views
thanksssssss

I suggest got for Uconn

In this economical crisis situation getting loan and co-signer is very hard

and nyu is 3 year program and is also expensive

bye joining Uconn save one year and lots of money and getting loan and co-signer is become easier than in case pf nyu

its juz my personal opinion. I dnt wanna offend anyone.. but, i feel nyu is really a very good school and curiculum.. they use latest technologies and full patient exposure.. I knw 3 dentists from nyu who got off wid their loans in like very few yrs without any problem. Actually speaking, i myself m waiting for a call from nyu..( i iwsh i get that call),, Uconn too is a good school, but patients r very less and also they use good technologies but do not change with time, i mean be away wid latest stuff. nyu is expensive than uconn, so if u r on students visa without marraige than i think uconn shd be firt to consider. BUT IF UR PARTNER IS COMPARATIVELY STABLE than if i were u i wud ve gone to nyu.. because for me practical exposure is THE MOST imp factor.. Rest the decision is in ur hands.. Juz my 2 cents.... Again, sorry if i ve offended someone.. Well, truly speakin i wud select nyu over BU as well.. If u are leaving nyu seat pls recommend for my application.. tats juz my opinion again.. gud luck wid everything.

UCONN
dont worry about probationary thing. In any case most schools have a min GPA requirement. (Dont know for sure if dental schools do). In any case you dont want to get Ds and Fs. If you get Bs and As you'll be alright

Guys UConn also has 3 yr course for FTDs.
Anyways i've heard UConn is a gr8 school...& significantly cheaper if u r a resident.

yes right ..mini ...uconn is also 3 yr......
And i just calculated the expenses ....it makes a difference of 40,000........
Thanks for your opinion........
And about grades......they are very particular about their theory ......and famous for thaat......but not for clinical work.......as i have heard it s a good school for ones who want to specialize........i dont have such plans.......so i think money we can make later.......if we have good clinical skillssss......but to save 40k.....if i am not confident in clinics......it wont make any difference......so ......
Thanks for replies guyssss.........
