Basically, from what I read in the last thread:

-Starting this year,NYU will be taking only ECE reports.
-For re-applicants who have submitted WES last year, its ok.
-NYU has not yet sent out any letters for interviews this year.

hi bds dmd its good that you started the thread back.i am answering for people who are stressed and who are unable to make calls.i called up nyu they are not telling when they will send the letters for interview.all they say you will recieve the letters soon.so guys untill then chill with the life.

what can i tell you. I have an 84 in NBDE part 1. TOFEL - 250. My GPA is 2.6. All my credentials are low. NYU is the only hope. Some times i feel i am hoping far too much with these scores. 😕 🙁 I dont know whats going to happen. Just wait and hope for the best 👍 .

NBDE part-1 -84
TOEFL - 247
GPA - 3.71

Hey my stats are the same as these.. I dint bother to apply and am preparing for retaking the part 1 if anyone thinks there is a wild chance of being accepted with a score of 84 do let me know... 🙁
And I also heard that NYU is gonna accept only GPAs of 3 or more from this year. Is it true.

I just called NYU and they said they need an original copy of the ECE report. I thought notarized copies were accepted. Did everyone know that?

Hi All,
I just called NYU and they said only if there is a change in our status meaning if they call us for an interview,or if we r granted admission or if we r denied admission then only we will be notified by regualr mail.they do not have answer to my query rgd when will the interview letters be sent out.so i guess now all we have to do is just wait till we hear from them,and keep praying!good luck all of you!!

i dont know who is the one who has a score of 78 or 80. i am just reproducing what has been talked about earlier in the previous thread. I never said anything for sure that you will get or not get. its just a matter of chance and i am goin for it by applying. I had called last week for status update. Someone left me a VM yesterday. As per the message, NYU will start reviewing applications in the end of January.

My guess is that this year, either they will call less applicants (as they are late) and clear up the backup from last year or they will do the interviews in a compact period of time.

It's extremely rare for them to take anybody below a 3.0, i've never heard of any applicant personally who got in with that low of a gpa...

But one thing should be kept in mind. People submitted WES till this year. Now nearly everyone has to submit ECE. That is a considerable GPA difference. Don't know but I know very few people with a respectable ECE GPA. The ones I know had a 3.1 or 3.2 and still got into BU.

If NYU is lookin for GPAs more than 3 in by ECE, I think i should pack my bags and go back as soon as possible before i miss my p.g admission back there 🙁 . Is there no one with a low GPA and a low score and who has got in to the dental school this 2005? Now only a miracle can save me 😳

hey guys, i am new to this site but heard a lot about it through my friends.
can u guys give me some credible information regarding new york college as my stats are 89, 273 toefl and 2.5 gpa. i am a bit concerned as i have come to know that new york people are planning not accept those below 3 gpa and have to tell you something as the information which i got is just from friends who happened to be just guessing and imagining as they didnt have any confirmation from the school directly.so what do u guys think? do you guys think i still have a chance? 😕

Lots of people got in NYU with GPA< 3.0. Due to the difference in grading system from country to country, I know for sure they don't care about GPA. Even if you graduate from a dental school in the US and apply for post- graduate program to another school, all that count is NBDE partI, not II, and class ranking( usually in the top ten percent), not GPA.
Best wishes to all who are trying to get NYU admission. It's a great school.

well i would say go ahead and apply..what is the harm? sure it's 50 bucks down the drain if u dont get in but if by some chance you do..then it was worth it all am i right? A green card wont get u anywhere(there are plenty of US citizens that dont get in with those scores) it's all about if u can get in an interview call at least at NYU...once u get a call its' not about ure grades it's about how good u perform in the interview...good luck

I went up to the 10th floor admissions office today at NYU and found out that for their REGULAR DDS program their minimum suggested requirement is 3.0...so you can damn sure be certain that the GPA for the advanced placement program is higher than that...not to be to blunt...but people below a 3.0 GPA would probably not stand much of a chance...this is the honest truth ...i know u all dont want to hear it, but if you want the facts plain and simple...there they are. Probably better of to save ure money

i called today to the admissions office. they said that the cut out score for part 1 is 80 and gpa is 3 by ece. the committee would evaluate each applicant and this goes on till april or may. i dont have good scores of both, but still did apply. part 1-82 and gpa by ece -2.5. i dont think i have a chance, but........patiently waiting with fingers crossed. what do u think khurram. planning to retake part 1 shortly.

I was interviewed last year and was waitlisted.
I will not be going as I got BU admission a few days ago.
I am surprised they called again. I had improved my part 1 from 87 to 92.
I remember last year they admitted waitlisted people from the year before without interviewing.
