Hey guys!

I was just wondering for those who will be attending in Aug. and for those who already attend NYU...which loan providers are you going with? Any recommendations? Also, have any of you heard of the Access Group?

citibank because they give prime - 1%

On a side note. Everyone make sure your loans get approved. I've been getting a headache dealing with the NYUCD financial aid department. Turns out that they forgot to certify my loan and that's why it's been denied. The person in the financial aid dept is an old biach. She screams on the phone, even when she is wrong. I talked to her very calmly ignoring her screams until she was finally convinced that it was her fault the loan wasn't certified and tried to appologized but her tone still stunk. I hate the bueracracy here already. But I'll get my dental education even if it kills me :meanie:

Thanks for the response. Do you know anything about the access group? I called the financial aid office today and I think I spoke to the same person. She is soooo rude, not to mention condescending. I'm not familiar with lenders and the whole process...this is my first time taking out loans. All that woman does is talk down to people. She seriously needs to get laid!

Haven't heard of access group
What do you know about them? I'm pretty sure nobody gives better than the prime - 1% citibank offers to us. We only get it because of the special deal struck with NYUCD and citibank. It's my first time taking loans too so I don't know much either, just learning as I go. But so far it hasn't been a pleasant experience

I still have not rescieved my Citiassist loan paper work and i was wondering if anyone else is in the same boat. I called NYU and the lady said to wait a little longer and that it will come. Has anyone else also experienced this?

I am getting kinda worried b/c the time window is getting smaller and smaller, should i apply for it online or should i just wait?

Any advise would be greatly helpful, thanks.

i m kind of lost too. i have no idea if i am missing anything. can someone give me the telephone number for the financial aid office at NYU.

thankx

Good luck dealing with these a-holes!

look into Key's ADEAL. much better than citiassist

I got my loans from citibank and I got something from them saying that the funds would be disbursed to nyu on or about august 26th, which kind of made me nervous since that is after orientation starts. does anyone that used citibank have a similar disbursement date or is mine just especially late?

The Dental Access loan is a very nice loan. Low rates, no additional fees. My uncle, who works for EdFund over in Cali, tells me that Access is a very popular lender in all professions.

Don't forget to run your own Credit check. They're usually free from equifax, and you can run a three credit bureau check for a small fee. It's very quick and accurate, and it's good to know yourself what your crediters are doing/looking at.

NYU does not deal with access group bec NY state doesn't. If you go through them loans will be delayed up tp 8 weeks. Just found this out today when I went to the financial aid dept

That's a shame. I find them to be one of the more desirable loans compared to a lot of other private lenders.

I did not get my paperwork for the CitiAssist loan yet either. I did get the document from Citibank stating that my Stafford loan was approved and would be disbursed in August, but that is different. When any of you get this, please let us know.

Have you heard anything new on the citiassist loan. I am still waiting on the paperwork. I already have my stafford approved. Are you gonna apply online or keep waiting?

i called citibank yesterday and the guy i spoke with told me that my loan was approved and that 36k was being sent to nyu. i didnt want all that money, so i told him to lower the amount. apparently a master promisory note was sent last week to sign off on the loan, yet i have not received it yet. ill let you know when i do.

I went through NYHESC and was able to follow all the directions NYU gave me. However, for my Stafford lender I chose "other" and then it listed Access Group among others. I used them and about 2 weeks later, got notice that everything was set and I had been approved. I called NYU Financial Aid to confirm and they said everything was set, although the lady was obviously annoyed I hadn't selected an NYU preferred lender and had therefore avoided the ~$1200 processing fee. I have good credit history and had no problems dealing with Access Group. Check it out if you want; you can save atleast $1000 per year, which is more like $3000 per year by the time you actually pay it off ...

Thanks Big dogg

I also got my loan stuff today. I signed it and sent it off.
