the NYU program is a joke (i helped design it when I worked for NYU). It's cobbled together from courses at several of NYU's professional schools, including the school of ed, the school of public service, and nursing. The major problem is that the MPH program does not have a "home" (none of the departments have ownership for the program) so no one is making sure the program is high quality.
Another word about NYU: it's run like a business. They are there to churn students out and take your $$. Each of the departments and institutions has its own budget, and they are responsible for covering the costs of their students. Every time a student goes to the library, their ID is swiped, and the program is charged for their entrance. I actually heard a professor telling a student not to go to the library so often if they didn't want their tuition going up. That is crazy talk!!
I can't remember who i was deciding between Tulane and NYU, but I guarantee you that Tulane's international MPH program is much more well respected than NYU's, once you are working. The only advantage that NYU has is that you get to live in NYC.
