hey guys.
i just wanted to know whether NYu ever rejected anyone without even an interview session???
cos i got mine tuday!kinda upset..but swallowed it hard!!!
My score is 87. toefl 250 n gpa of 2.63.I had applied in sept 2003.
feels horrid when even nyu turns its back on u!🙁

was thinking of taking my toefl again...i wish i could with my gpa..but i cant do nuthin about it!!
and for i realllllly am soooo jitttery abt retaking part 1!
its such an inbetween score...i mite do badly next time.!!
am planning to just concetrate on prt 2.
any sugestions??

hey callous! you are just fine!! dont try to do too many things now..all you have to have now is patience( i kow its easy to say, when i myself lack some!) but thats the only key!
....i am emphatic with you and know what it takes to score 87!..but this whole set up of things is that, nothing is logical, rational or goes as planned...just cuz you were rejected by NYU doesent mean its the end of the road! am sure there are still other schools like BU etc which accept students till may...! i dont know where all you 've applied, but believe me your peformance looks fine...am sure you have read several acceptances out here who have a much lesser profile than yours!
all in all just chill and dont be frantic about your scores....time will decide your fate!

in fact ur scores resemble mine very much.
i think u r fine with ur scores.i applied in oct they took till jan to com up with my interview letter.did u call thm up and ask thm the reason for not giving an interview?a lot of poepl have multiple acceptances and do not take up nyu bcoz of the cost.i am sure thr must have been a mistake,just call thm up and find. did u find out whether ur application is complete? nyu needs all official scores which sometimes takes a long time to reach.
my application was complete only in dec (i had applied in oct)

anyways,i dont think u should worry too much about nyu.u will get into other good schools.

Hey Callous K9,

I have a the same part I score as yours, but I gave my NBDE I in Dec.. As Ann said, why dont you find out why NYU sent this letter... If they dont give any reasons.. just forget about NYU for the time being. Retake your part I and improve your scores.. I am mostly planning to do that. As the competition gets intense, the higher we have to score to get into IDP..
Just keep your spirits up..🙂 🙂

Hey,
like others have said, be persistent and find out from the right people (someone from the faculty), the reasons for your rejection. also, having a well framed and good resume is very important. writing a decent Statement of Purpose helps a lot. I hope u have worked on these aspects before applying.. Good luck and have faith.

IN my reject letter they mentioned theywere unable to put me into the fall of 2003.I didnt understand that cos i thought maybe they musve mistaken ..so i called to verify..they said its just a silly typo!!!
I asked to be transferred to amy knowles..she told me we aalso look into the gpa scores.Now i JUSt dont know WHY they cannot understand that GPA cannot be standardized in india.It varies from university to university.I (think) i was a good student (and i still do😉 !!!!!!
I have only applied to upenn ,nyu and bu.The first two have rejected me .I was never banking on bu anyways.(obviosuly!!!!!! especially when i know that ther were abt 5 peeople with a 90 up in my interview day!!!!😱

(can u believe ,yesterday i dreamt that i had alreddy atended the Nyu interview .And to dream that the interview went bad..and soo bad that i completely forgot that i even went for one!!!!!!!)
i was soo confused whether this reallly happend or was i dreaming.!!!!
i hope i dont confuse u guys!!!!

don't you wish you had this dream before even you attempt the expense of going to NYU...😉

About BU, according to what I have read in the SDN, sometimes it is pure luck..there was someone who mentioned that there is a student who was been accepted with a upper 80 passing score. So did you call them and ask about your status...Even if they but you in waiting list there might be a good chance for next year spot..

Just Concentrate on your part 2... are you going to take the CBT format..Coz I am planing to take it that way too

I resived my rejection letter yesterday too. It says the same thing that they canot put me in a class of 2003 . Infact envelope is addressed to me and the letter is addressed to someone else and i called them back and asked about my letter and they told me that it must be same kind of letter thats y it got mixed up.

Everyone says its easy to get in to NYU i had a very low score so i know y they didnt invite me but i am really sorry i wonder y didnt they call u for the interview. Everyone says that for NYU u should apply really early so may be sep was too late for them? i remmeber reading that some one got in NYU with less scores then u.So have no idea what there criteria of calling for interview is.
Dont loose heart and just keep ur spirits up

just think about this situation like this.maybe u were destined for studying in a far better school than nyu(not tht it is bad...but financially it is!!!!!!!!)
i think u should retake part1 thts wht i am going to do,bcoz with the same marks i dont think schools will consider our application.i also applied to only a few schools this yr.....big mistake🙁 .
u cant change ur gpa.but many schools dont even consider gpa.so dont worry about tht.

if the letter says that they cannot consider admitting u for the class of fall 2003, then does that mean that u stand a chance for admission for 2004? (2003 is long gone!!!)

hey Callous don't get upset about that. I guess what gsmm is saying is true....maybe they are too saturated.As far as not having hopes on BU is concerned, i don't think you ought to give up so soon.You never know whats in store for you! Good Luck!

i know..it was just a momentry feeling of despair.
But i know its not gonna help me or anyone if i keep feelin that way.
I;ve taken it in the rt spirits..infact i even forgot that i was sad 3 days ago!!!!
And ths goes for evvvveryone who's going thru the same thing.
