I found on another forum that the NYU College of Dentistry is
merging with the Nursing school and is changing its name to the
NYU School of Dentistry and Nursing.

http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=165958

Besides having the longest and most expensive International
Dentist program in the country, the graduates from NYU will
have a diploma with the name "School of Dentistry and Nursing"
to hang on their office wall. I don't have anything against nursing,
but it has very little to do with dentistry. I think the NYU
administration really goofed up on this one.

Anyway, the important thing is to get a dental license, even if
the diploma has a goofy name, so good luck to all who have NYU
as their last hope.

Although, the combination of dentistry and nursing does sound 'bizarre' where people would have much rather been happy with a school of dentistry & dental hygiene. But, it is a purely strategical move. NYUCD has improved a lot as far as revising its curriculum and standards of care are concerned. But, there was a need to improve its funding in the research department. And, this merger is to an extent for that very purpose. There are other very important benefits of these that I am presently unaware of.

I am a foreign trained dentist from India and I want to apply for
the Advanced Program for International Dentists that is offered by
California Dental Schools. I would like to apply for the DUGGANS Gateway program to train for the practical test administered by various CA Dental Schools. I would like to know if any one enrolled in the DUGGANS program to prepare for the practical tests administered by USC, UCLA, UCSF, UOP and LLU. Please let me know if anyone found this program useful. The fee is around 8000USD for the Gateway program and I dont mind spending it if it helps in the practical test but I dont want to waste the money if the program is of no use, the DUGGAN website mentions that the Gateway program is useful for students trying to do well in the practical test administered by CA dental schools,
Thank You,

My opinion is to finish your dental boards first, duggans will definitely help for the practical in UCLA, UOP, and USC, I doubt it will help in LLU, duggans is the best program if you're planning to take the bench exam, if you have a good part 1 score(90+), just buy a compressor and high speed handpiece and practice at home and I think you'll be fine.

That's just MY opinion, good luck....

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, Do u know anyone who personally took the course and if so did they tell u that it was useful for the preclinical tests conducted by various CA schools,
Thanks,
