Has anyone else received a secondary from NYU? My application was verified on June 24, and payment was received by them on June 9...still haven't heard about secondary though...

Sent from my iPhone using SDN mobile

How did they notify you that they received your payment? Through email?

Yeah, I received an email saying the fee was received and that once AADSAS released the DAT scores and LORs that I would proceed.

No secondary received but I haven't taken my dat yet either. I think they sent me a confirmatiom for the check I sent though.

Got mine June 23. For anyone who has, any idea on how long the student questionnaire responses should be?

They explicitily say to write short responses in a few moments. Mine was a little over a page, single spaced with 12 font including the question prompts. NYU receives A LOT of applications so obviously keep it short and sweet.

thats what i figured. mines about 2 pages between all three questions (around 300-400 words per question)

Submit it ASAP, fyi. Assuming you still haven't submitted (if you got it June 23rd), two weeks has almost passed (the deadline).

I'm assuming everyone gets NYU secondaries because I just received mine and haven't taken my DAT yet

I'm still confused lol. There's a supp questionnaire and a supplemental app. !?
Supplemental questionnaire for NYU is basically what most people refer to as a supplemental app. 2-3 generic short answer questions. The application is what's handed to you on interview day- I suppose to test your handwriting lol. The questionnaire everyone who applied will probably receive after they pay the $80 fee, the application is for whoever comes in to interview

Thank you so much for explaining! 🙂

I guess I should receive it soon since they waived my fee this morning.

For that questionnaire which we're supposed to send back as a PDF file, are you all entering your answers directly onto the PDF template which they sent to you, or making an entirely separate one?

PDF template? I just put my responses in an email and afterwards someone from their admissions emailed me thanking me that I submitted the questionnaire and saying they added it to my application. EZ-PZ.

I was wondering the same. I don't think it's possible to type directly on the Student Questionnaire form since the entry boxes are not typable, if that makes sense. I'm assuming we just create a separate Word document, type out our responses with our name, ID and DentPIN#, and then convert that into PDF format and attach it to the e-mail?

That's what I did, they accepted it.

What questionnaire form? When they sent me the questionnaire it was just an email with the questions. So i just replied in the actual email and they accepted that.

Interesting.... so you had the 3 questions in the email itself? Same with okiedokeartichoke, I received that Student Questionnaire as a separate PDF file that opened up in a new window when I clicked the link they sent me.

Yeah, they were in the actual email. No attached form, no additional link, no nothing.

Huh, that is interesting haha. I just assumed @TrueMenace and @The Tooth Dr both couldn't follow directions 😛, but now I know that's not the case. The e-mail @plusalpha and I received explicitly stated (in the message and on the bottom of the form given) to send our responses in PDF. Weird ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Either way, I guess it doesn't matter.

For the " Tell us something about your undergraduate experience that you would change and why." can I talk about taking more classes or is it better to talk about something else like join more clubs?

Whatever you would change... Think of it as if you had a chance to redo undergrad (or have any regrets). Don't make it too boring, imo.

They must have recently changed it then. It makes sense though because it standardizes the way they see it. Before, people could have directly emailed them the responses (me), sent a word doc, or pdf. I'm guessing this was causing too much trouble so they quickly switched to using pdfs. My guess.

How many words are you all writing per question? Just want to get a sense of how everyone else is doing.

Just as a follow up (I know I'm a little late) but I called NYU (I'm one of the people who got separate pdf formatted questions) and they said writing in word is fine as long as it's a pdf when you send it 🙂

I wrote about 1500 characters give or take per question! I would say just keep it to one page and you're fine

Yeah, I received mine around last week. Sent it on Friday, they received my secondary app and payment just this morning.

I wrote around 5-6 sentences per question.... Have you guys noticed that the NYU questions are pretty much copy-paste from the UPenn app?

Since it's not typable directly into the PDF Questionnaire form, then should I make a separate word document and type in my answers there? this document they sent won't let me type it in.

Yes they let you send a separate word document. Personally I wanted to be a tryhard and show computer skillz by typing it onto the pdf but come to think of it, my answers might have been too short.

Haha I only wrote 2 sentences for each. Wish me luck ;0

I'm gonna get a lot of flak for this, but I don't understand the tryhards making a separate pdf/word document to write a page for EACH question. There's a reason why NYU dental allotted a certain amount of space for us to answer....
