If anyone's interested, you can call NYU and find out whether they've decided not to interview you. Sniff.

I called them on the 21st of december. Bad news!! They decided not to interview me 🙁 . My file was complete in october.

I'm in the same boat, I've been complete there since 12/14 (transcript issues, don't you hate that?) and I'm thinking it's too early to call, considering two weeks of the past month have been holiday. It also kind of scares me since the admissions instructions tell you to not call, not have you parents call, not have you doctor call, not have your advisor call, etc., etc. I kind of get the feeling that they don't want a lot of calls, I don't know 🙂 Probably in about two weeks if I haven't heard, I'll suck it up and call and hope they don't yell at me...

For those of you who called, what did you say? Did you just straight out asked if you were going to get an interview or not?

I haven't called NYU specifically, but when I have called other schools I usually try to have a reason to do so, if I were answering the phones all day with people asking about "the status of their applications" I'd be annoyed. It's a polite-ish way of saying "So, are you going to interview me or not?" For non-AMCAS schools, I got 8 college credits from a school that is stupid about sending transcripts, so I call to check if the transcript got there. For AMCAS schools, SwampMan mentioned calling to verify your address...that sounds good, haven't tried that one yet! One school I decided to withdraw my app from MD/PhD and only be considered for MD, that was a good reason to call--and I got an interview out of that one!

Anyway, that's my opinion, take it or leave it.

Calling does help - you're right. I had called Cornell and the next day I got an interview invite. Well, I just called NYU to see if they had received my update letter and xtra rec and the guy who sounded like he was in a great hurry, said yes. No mention of an interview or not. Oh well <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

ScoobyDoo mentioned in the "Interview Season" thread that there's only 3 days left of interviewing (Feb 13, 14, 15), wow! (Scooby, how do you know?) Maybe I changed my mind and will call to check on my status, even though I've only been complete since Dec 14...

Bebe, any thoughts?

Calling helps yes...
I just called NYU to set up my interview. They told me the first available date was February 13 and the last available was February 15th 🙂

She said that is the last day they are interviewing. So my guess is that there are only like 9 or so interview slots left at NYU. I had stalled a little before calling to set it up, so my guess is that most the invites have already been sent out.

you say you called to set up your interview, that was AFTER you had received some sort of interview invite, right? Did that come in the mail or email?

No hard feelings, though. I think this site just gets me more anxious, I should not read it for a while...

Sorry for replying so late to several of the questions:

- I received their "app complete" postcard on Oct 15.
- I just called with a polite one-liner asking "to perform a status check on my application." They answered me with another one-liner: "The committee has decided not to invite you for an interview." Then there was a pause.

Hmm, I suppose I should call them, since I've been complete since Oct 7. THey've probably rejected me already.
