hey everyone,
i interviewed at NYU on may 16th and recieved a waitlist letter today.
I can't say i'm really suprised as i was interviewd very late in the cycle but hey at least it's something. Also i've heard that if ure on the waitlist and u dont get in, u have a very good chance of getting admitted for the following year if you reapply. Anyone have any info on that matter?

Also just to see how many are on the waitlist...if u are just post it here so we can all get a better picture of what its lookin like.

One more thing, has anyone tried to find out how we can go about doing volunteer research at NYU or any other dental school for that matter? after giving my part 1 again, I dont wanna just sit around on my ass for another year...and i think doing research at NYU or somewhere else will really improve my chances for admissions in the following cycle...any info on this anyone?

I had interview in May and received a place in the the waitlist. So far I have heard nothing. At this point I am planning to just reapply as we are so close to the start of the semester.

Just talked to Ms. Amy knowles at NYU and she said that final decision letters can even be mailed out after August 1 which is the first day of classes!!!
Man they really want to drag us along huh.
Not that i have my hopes up anyways😛

I know that getting an accpetance letter now is as slim as getting stuck down by lightning. But then, I cannot concentrate 🙁 1 month and I just managed to do like 100 Decks.

i have recently joined the SDN family. My part 1 score is 86, tofel 250 and i'm also on NYU waitlist. i was interviewed in feb. i'm preparing to retake part 1(cbt).it is little hard to concentrate at this point but applications for the year 2006 have already started so we have only 2 mnths left to prepare, i guess we cannot just sit and wait for NYU.

What is the dedline date the addmision staff given for already acepted students to intimate their final dessision about thier addmission?

So that we can get some idea about movement on waitlist.

I know that I have posted after a long time but due to some unavoidable reasons I could not log on to sdn. but I thought that I do like to share this one bit with you guys since I have defered my admission at NYU so one of the ppl in waitlist can surly benefit from one more vacant seat!

I think waitlist is moving now,Today Amy had called me about availability(waitlisted since march).She said i have to clear everything within aug 1st heath records and finacial thing if i am interested to join.They would send conformation letter through Ups mail.I think they r going to call people on waitlist.

I also got an email from amy asking me if i would be available if i was to be selected from the waitlist....
then i replied and got another email, saying that if i got a letter it would come by ups express, just like you said you got.
i'm really f'ing nervous now, i hope it's some good news...she didn't say i was in, but she wrote exactly what was said above in the posts...oh my god the tension IS KILLING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ever heard "Curiosity killed the cat"?
I mailed Ms Amy Knowles asking her about "Reactivation" of my application as I was worried that I might miss out on the 2006 batch too{ Don't ask me why..I just put my foot in my mouth}. She replied back saying that she will ask my application to be updated for the 2006[YIKES!! I realized that I hadn't used the right words while mailing her.}
I quickly send a reply requesting her not to do so as long as there is a slim chance of me getting into NYU this year itself.

So am back in the waitlist..albeit the last person on the list I guess.

Moral of the story = SHUT UP AND WAIT! and pray that you get selected.

to be honest, last minute, they will preferably accept someone who is already here in the US and doesnt require a visa status change.
a friend of mine, waitlisted at BU was told that last minute i.e. within 15 dasy there was no way her I-20 can be issued and her visa ststus changed from a B1 to F1.
but then again anythings possible..!!!

I do agree. Saying that at least one person with adjusting of status (not yet a green card holder) has been contacted by NYU yesterday. Hence one lives in hope....!!

got the bunch of papers in UPS today, and if she had said that you will get some papers by the same it's going to be the acceptance letter.
guys dont worry.
get doctor's appointment in advance coz a lot of vaccinations and other things have to be done, and the financial arragements, start filing the FAFSA ONLINE if not done in advance.
try searching for some good notebook, if not planning to buy from NYU Computer store, coz it may take a weeks time to reach you.

so i just foudn out from amy knowles, that even though she contacted me and all that like the other people who got accepted, as of right now i'm still on the waitlist...she was asking if iw oudl be able to make it to the states if they accepted me cuz we HAVE to be there by august 1st and i said hell yeah i can...
so she took that into account and she said they are still making decisions...so another few torturous days to go🙁
oh well...

may I ask what ure basing your assumption on?
Ms. Knowles said that after august 1st no one would be called from the waitlist...and this year the rule is that anyone who is in the incoming class HAS to be present on august 1st at NYU at the orientation. Also she said anyone who is on the waitlist should reactivate their application on or after august 1st.
Do you know something different?
