Hi... has anyone else been waitlisted at NYU? Does anyone know about how long the list is or how this process works?

Thank you.

hello ~
I actually went to NYU to talk to Dr. Mejia about the waitlisted applicants
last week.
She told me that the applicants will be re-reviewed in March~April.
I guess we will have to wait till April.

I am dying to go there..........
:luck:

Same here! (NYU is such a great school!) Well being re-reviewed gives me hope! Ahh.... this has been such a long process... I wish you the best!

Wow are you serious about March/April? I was waitlisted as well to my surprise. My interviewer told me that he was going to give me the highest recommendation possible, so I left the interview feeling pretty good. But I got the waitlist letter in the mail today. BUMMER!

Best of luck!

The waitlist will start to move in April and continue all the way to August (check last year's NYUCD waitlist thread)...I remember last year, one student was admitted on the day of the orientation when one of the students didn't show. The wait may be long but you make sure you call Dr. Meija to let you know how much you want this acceptance. Good luck to you all!

Thanks for the feedback! Are you a currently student at NYUCD?

Like CPC said, my class has some people who were accepted the final week. Just keep calling them... the squeaky wheel gets the grease on most waitlists... NYU is no exception.

Just withdrew my acceptance from NYU and hopefully bumped somebody off the waitlist 🙂

Hey CPC, thanks for the advice. Is it really that simple to call the admissions office and ask to speak with Dr. Mejia? Or should I e-mail her first?

Thanks!

From my experience, u should send her an email every week. If u decide to retake DAT or u have some new things in ur application, u should let her know. I got accepted 5 days before the school started. My advice is "keep ur hope alive, and pray, and email Dr. Mejia".,GUd Luck

awesome video!! completely forgot about that episode.👍

There was at least 1 person accepted off the wait list earlier this year. I forget the name but it was posted somewhere on SDN. I'm sure others have been taken off the waitlist as well.

For those that were waitlisted. What are your stats.

Dont they reevaluate all the waitlisted applicants at once? How are people accepted throughout the process ?

I don't know but look up other NYU threads and there's someone named Daydream or something along those lines. Ask her, I'm sure she'd help everyone throughout the process.

How did you manage to meet with Dr. Mejia? Did you just show up or did you schedule a meeting with her?

I just stopped by without making an appointment.
After waiting for about 15 minutes, one of the assistant
took me to her office. She was busy dealing with all the
applications with endless phone calls. However,
she told me to be patient, and also told me my GPA was not
competitive compared to the pool.
I did not get their detailed admission process or information about the seats left.
but it was worth visiting in that i could show some interest in NYU.
I have sent letters of interest in attending NYU a couple of times.
I hope that changes something.
Good luck:luck:

Thanks, that's cool that she took the time to talk to you. If you don't mind me asking, rougly speaking, what is your GPA? I'm at a 3.3. You can PM if you prefer.

Wow, I'm surprised to hear that you're not competitive with the pool with those stats! Your DAT scores are amazing! Is that your cumulative GPA? If you don't mind what's your science and BPC GPA?

does anyone know if this is a ranked waitlist? How they determine who gets off the waitlist?

I heard from the admissions office that the waitlist is unranked and that they re-evaluate everyone in beginning March/April and carrying on through the summer.

I'd be interested to know if anyone else has a better understanding of how the waitlist works!

Thanks in advance!

instead of giving a waitlisted applicant a number in a ranked waitlist, the entire pool is evaluated when there are open spots.

are they still interviewing. In one of last years thread regarding NYU people were still going on interviews and getting in within 2 or 3 weeks.

sounds like bull to me. Review all 200+waitlist folders? I can guarantee that if you don't make them know you're interested, you won't get in.

Hey if you don't mind me asking where did you get the figure of 200+ on the waitlist from? Are there really 200+ people on the waitlist?

Do you know how many deposits they have?

From my interview, one of the people asked how many people will end up on the waiting list, and some big number was thrown out like 100-200+ - this was back in October. With the number of interviews, one can assume that the number on the waitlist would be pretty substantial.

Hey thanks for the info. The only numbers I heard at my interview was that 700-800 would be interviewed and eventually, with offers off the waitlist, 500-600 would receive offers of acceptance.

Have you been accepted to NYU? On the waitlist? Do you know how many deposits they have received?

Sorry, could you clarify something.

So 7-8 hundred will be interviewed, and INCLUDING the waitlist, a total of 5-6 hundred will receive offers?

Thanks!

Sure no problem. When I was at my interview I sat next to a grad student during lunch who was working on his master's and was an intern at NYU admissions. I think his name was Steve.

Anyways, he said that NYU would interview a total of 700-800 students. From that number eventually 500-600 would receive an offer. Now that could be Dec. 1st acceptances or waitlisted students. Obviously not all 500 or 600 would choose NYU, so he was implying that it would take that many offers before they would fill their class. Make sense?

I'm not sure how accurate that is, I'm just relaying the information I was told. I hope he's correct because if he is it means that if you interview you have a 3/4 chance of eventually getting an acceptance.

I've heard this.
Also, I believe it is true

Thanks, funny thing. i met steve as well. He told me the same thing, but instead of giving me those numbers, he said if you get interviewed you have a 75% chance of getting in. So yeah, same thing, just in a different way. I was just a little confused by your wording.

Well, heres to our 75% chance!!

Wonder how true this will hold for this year. Competition is fairly brutal.

So you met Steve too, huh? By any chance do you remember his last name?

Yes, let's hope our 75% chance works out for us!
