still waiting
nov 15 interview

Appox. 1 month.

Interviewed early Dec. accepted via email on the 12th. Got the letter on the 16th via snail mail.

I think many more acceptances will go out next month or have already been going on since the 12th.

Interviewed Dec 1. Still no news.

... the silence is deafening....

Has anyone called NYU to ask when do they expect to notify another bunch of people?

when will they stop interviewing? seems like my app is dead in the water.

interview dec. 1 too, no word 🙁

i'm starting to think it's a bad sign, since people who interviewed later got news already ... or maybe i'm just pessimistic ...

I called up and they said that all letters will go out by February 15. If they are e-mailing acceptances, do the letters mean they are rejections? It is very confusing!

Well, if you look at their acceptance stats, over 50% of the people who interview get accepted. So either they have a ton of waitlist movement, or they're still holding back a slew of acceptances. My interest in them wanes by the day. 🙄

I just interviewed there with the Dean of Admissions, Dr. Brianza. Hel told me that they've already accepted two thirds of the class and people accepted for the remaining spots will hear by mid-Feb.

Two thirds? That's a shocker. Everyone seemed to be under the impression that the majority of their acceptances were on Feb. 15th. Sigh. Man, I have so many post-interview decisions stacked up here, I'm going crazy.

Does that mean that they've accepted two-thirds of their class size, or that they've sent out two thirds of their total acceptances for the year? Did the Dean clarify? According to their acceptance numbers, they have to overbook acceptances by more than double the number of seats available to get a full class by the fall.

Interviewed late novemeber. Accepted exactly 2 weeks later.

Oops, didn't catch this comment earlier. Yeah, methinks waitlist too. I'm also waiting for other non-rolling schools that are higher on my list than NYU, so at this point I'm just curious to see what happens with my app there. They're currently holding the record for longest post-interview wait time for a a self-professed "non-rolling school."

On interview day, they gave us a mini-flyer that said a few acceptances would be given out by Jan. 15, but the bulk of acceptances would come at around Feb. 15. So I'm not sure what the deal is with NYU already accepting 2/3 of the class. I'm thinking it'd be more like 1/3 of the class has been filled up to this point. Just my thought.

SSBM Ganondorf? I may have to break out the Jigglypuff.

Jiiiigaleeee puuuff. jiiiigaleee...
zzz...

Ganon pwns. :meanie:

speedbird: I think that flyer they gave on interview day is full of crap. More than a few people have already been accepted, so I don't think that their words hold much validity. They need to hurry up and toss out their waitlist/rejection letters instead of holding them back for no apparent reason other than to peeve off interviewees.

Hey people still waiting for a response from NYU, three words:

Letter of Interest. Seriously. It works.

I got an e-mail from them yesterday, saying they've mailed out my acceptance letter. But a friend of mine in Brooklyn heard she got in like two weeks ago!

So they are definately already accepting students.

hey mufaddal, can you tell us when you interviewed? congratulations by the way

Thanks tonyjerry

I interviewed there on January 8th. I remember hearing there they send their first round of admissions around janurary 15th, and continue to do so until february 15th - so there's still time

i feel the big rejection or waitlist coming

I won't even be applying to med schools until a few more years..but I can already feel a rejection letter from NYU coming my way.

ditto. final decisions go out this week. Bah, I'm already focused on other schools releasing decisions in March.

So...we should expect these "final decisions" by next week? (Feb. 17th)

Alright all you NYU interviewees - strictly numbers - do I have a shot at an interview at the fine institution that gave you one?

MCAT = 30Q - 11 VR, 8 PS, 11 BS - 3.4 cum undergrad GPA from Carleton college, 3.1 BCPM there also, 40 credits or so of 4.0 paramedic school at a community college that (I think) will get added into the cum GPA and make me look better at first glance.

the average mcat score is 33 and the mean gpa is around 3.7. when i applied they were not a part of amcas(i understand that they are now) and they wrote in the application basically that those with mcat scores of less than 10 in both the biological and the physical sections should not waste their time applying. they will probably write this on their secondary application now. your ps score might give you some problems. i would apply anyhow though because you never know what the adcoms want.

Well funny you say that, because next year I am convinced will be a STRICTLY NUMBERS game. With them moving to AMCAS there will be a FLOOD, maybe even a TIDAL WAVE, of applicants and as a result, it will become even more "number-centric." My guess is that your numbers will get you through the first or second screening but if you'll get an interview... no one knows. Eitherway, next year is going to be a tough application cycle. The same story applies to Columbia but of course it'll be even higher "numbers."
