hi kimchiro and smi,
my name is deepa,i will be in the DDS AP class of 2007.i am from india, have been living in bayside for the past 3 yrs.BTW, welcome to bayside, kimchiro.
i plan to take the subway, atleast the first day.bus nos Q12&Q13 go to the nos 7 subway station.there r buses every 8 to 10 min in the peak hrs and the 7 subway is pretty convenient too.it will take me an hr and 15 mins to get to nyu probably.if the schedule seems too rigorous(which is what everybody tell me )and i can't deal with the subway i guess i will have to switch to LIRR.It is 25 mins by lirr to penn station from where i may have to take a crosss town bus or another subway.
sorry if i confused u guys .do let me know about ur plans.take care guys .

Hi Deepa and smi,
I am starting 4 yr program this fall. I was at Bayside past June looking for apt. I chose Bayside due to school district for my kids. I heard that district 26 is excellent for school.

I did test ride from Bayside to the school. It took exactly 20 minutes from the LIRR station to Penn then another 30ish minute from Penn to VA hospital via M16 bus. Well maybe 25 minutes, I wasted about 5 minutes looking for proper exit to the bus station for M16. As far as subway, it took me 45 minutes from Flushing main street to somewhere in Manhatten. Then walk to first ave. As far as LIRR $147 per months and $70/month for subway. Total transportation expense is $217/month. Is there any alternative way to save in $ and time?

Look forward to seeing you guys.

hi kimchiro,
i didn't know about 'M16' thank u.i don't know about an alternate "cheaper" means of transport.will look into it though.
