Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow
Creeps in this petty pace from day to day
Until the last syllable of recorded time
Bears way to dusty death. Out out brief candle!
Life's but a poor player, a walking shadow
That struts and frets its hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more. Tis a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury
Signifying nothing.

haha nice. I take it you didnt hear anything today either ...

This is probably one of my favorite quotes of all time. Nice one JohnnyDrama. Also enjoyed the book that was named after this quote.

Bump. I'm not sure why I'm even bothering.

i've DEFINITELY given up by now. when do they send out waitlists/rejections, next week? hopefully on valentine's day, just to make the day extra warm and fuzzy 🙂

I'm also throwing in the towel. Time to start obsessing about another school...

Has anyone who interviewed in December gotten in yet? I find it hard to believe that there won't be another big batch from the later interviews.

Thoughts anyone?

I agree with Ladykae and missymd..... I am done obsessing over a school that is obviously not accepting me. AECOM here I come!

Looks like we'll all have to be starting up the 2007 waitlist thread next week. Hopefully I will be able to join it and not be straight up rejected.

I heard there'd be another batch of acceptances sent out Feb. 15th, which makes sense to me because I would imagine that a lot of people interviewed after their Dec. batch and the trickling of acceptances since then wouldn't come close to the number of people who interviewed after Dec. Of course, I'm also waiting.

I heard that NYU didn't do interviews after Dec. When I went for my interview in mid-Dec we were told that would be one of the last interview dates. Perhaps I heard wrong though.

I'm curious where you heard this. Just want to be cautious before getting my hopes up... I hope you're right....

Stick a fork in me, I'm done. Hello waitlist.

What's everybody's though about being placed on a waitlist? I get a litte drop in confidence because of this, and even if I would be accepted I know I'll just think, "Well, I wonder if I am really supposed to be going to this school considering I wasn't good enough for regular acceptance....."

Then again, I could be flat out rejected, but I think that's pretty rare if you got an interview since NYU doesn't interview for very long.

when did you interview?

No offense, I hope you're right, but I think most of us have given up on this. I think for the most part they're filled and waiting till people withdraw to send out more acceptances.

I think that the waitlist at NYU is not a bad place to be. From what I've read on SDN they take a good percentage of people off of the waitlist. They do hand out some straight rejections though.

I think there were earlier threads on SDN about NYU's last interview date... a few said that NYU pushed it back this year to mid-January. I interviewed mid December. I heard about the Feb. 15th batch through the grapevine (from someone who got into NYU med in the first batch and is a current NYU undergrad).

I think the comment was based on your statement about giving up your NYU acceptance if you got scholorships to Harvard or Yale. I'm not sure if it was a joke or not, but 32R on your second attempt (don't get me wrong, that's a great score) generally doesn't even get you into those schools, let alone get scholorships to them.

Luckily, their scholarships are need based, not merit based.

overheard outside of the admissions office: "No more acceptances going out."

A friend at NYU told me this. Everyone at this point is getting a waitlist or a rejection.

oh, okay. how reliable is the information, since he heard it outside the admissions office (by someone in admissions?)?

It sounded secondhand, but the person he heard it from had heard it directly from the admissions committee. Then again, we already suspected as much.

true. thanks for spreading the word.

you know, i'm bit pissed that i didn't interview in time to be considered in the first batch. judging by sdn, not much came after that first batch. so for the most part, i and the many others at my interview day were interviewing for a waitlist spot. i wouldn't have spent the time and money to interview had i known this. i hope they straighten this one out for next year.

I'm 95% sure that I won't be receiving a direct acceptance now. Just have to wait and see if I get a rejection or waitlist! 🙄

does someone want to call nyu today to verify that no more acceptances are going out?

not it.

I called NYU today and they said there will be no more acceptances going out. The rejections and wait lists will start going out on Feb 15. 🙁

then it's official enough for me. thanks.

NOTE TO FUTURE NYU APPLICANTS PERUSING THIS THREAD: based on the acceptances reported on sdn for the c/o 2011 cycle, nyu accepted a big batch of applicants in mid-december and a relatively small number in bits and pieces thereafter. some people weren't interviewed in time to be considered in this first mid-december batch, and it *appears* that our chances for admission were diminished because of this. nyu told us nothing about this, and many on this thread hoped for a second big batch that never came. be ye fairly warned.

Yeah, checked the website and they had a link to the Class of 2011 Second Look Weekend...Registration is now closed for it 😡

Another rejection by silence. What a bunch of haters. 😡

I really don't think it's fair that they never seriously considered the people that interviewed in December or later. 😡

i absolutely agree. the least they could have done is told us about the situation when they sent us the interview invite (e.g. we're interviewing for x/y remaining acceptances), so we would know how tough getting in would be at that point. i would have saved some time and money. this is crappy of them. 😡

What are you guys talking about? It says clearly on their website that the first batch of acceptances is sent out mid dec and then they are rolling until the class is filled. Obviously this means that it is your advantage to interview early.

It is your responsibility to know this when you go to the interview. And, by the way, it is an advantage at most other schools to interview earlier than later, so what NYU does is nothing special.

that's exactly what we're talking about--the "first batch" issue. the website states

"Acceptances are on a rolling basis. The first round of letters is expected to go out at the end of December. Acceptances will continue on a rolling basis until the class is filled. All wait list and rejection letters will be sent on February 15."

the term "first round" implies that there will be another round. based on sdn, there wasn't. had the website been more accurate and stated that after the *only* batch in december (more like mid than the end of december) fewer acceptances would go out in a scattered manner, i would have not bothered with it.

they can accept people however they want. i just ask that they communicate better with applicants, as i've experienced with other schools.

this thread can finally bury itself - things got pretty ridiculous up in here the last 2 months
😛

haha, in response to Doctor Detroit bashing a bunch of polls...

Just set something up if people would like to keep track of stats a bit better than the polls... You can see the sheet at this site, or edit it by logging into google docs as

Interviewed middle of December, got acceptance on Friday.

i don't know of any school that will disclose the number of available seats they have at a certain point. i'm not sure how nyu goes about things, but i know of some schools that don't over accept and pull people off the waitlist to fill in the spots of those who decline their acceptance. nyu has accepted applicants from december and january interviews.

Who cares amymore? Just let the thread die.
