Anyone have any info about NYU Dental? Need lots and lots of information...mean DAT/gpa entry scores? Plan to apply there next year and currently hold a 3.7/3.8 gpa and plan on doing awesome on the DAT. Holla...

Your question is way too vague. Try using the "Search" button for the word "NYU". There is lots and lots of info for you to read.

holla

Avg. Cum. GPA: 3.2
Avg. Sci. GPA: 3.1

DAT Academic: 18.5
DAT PAT: 17.8

way too vauge sean? Try incorporating some common sense into your daily routine and lets see how well you fare...this is a dental board...and like i said, any info was appreciated, not any text that was worthless for my eyes to waste their time and read...so holla...you pretentious prick.

Yeah, I think the above question is too vague and essentially a waste of space on this board. Your lucky people on this board are tolerant. On other forums, lazy people like you who refuse put forth ANY effort and repost STUPID questions like "Anyone have any info on NYU" get flamed.

And next time you get so angry by someone giving you advise like "use a search button", you better double up on your meds and try to keep your cool.

Wish you luck on your pursuits.

holla at your moms, I'm done.

Nice post shawn! What a wicked buuuuurrrn!!!!!

NYU is too expensive, accepting over 220 students for incoming class, each paying around 60K tuition... Jesus!

Is this fair?

Sure it is. Nobody's being forced to enroll at NYU; they can always take another school's offer, or if there aren't any, abandon dentistry altogether.

I'd say that it worth every penny! i much rather go to a school in a city like NYC rather than attending UConn (with all the respect) which is in the middle of no where. UConn in an excellent school (had the highest grades on second boards for the last 2 yrs) and is the cheapest, but the location sucks. This is of course a personal opinion.

Comet!

That's a pretty good inference.

I'd say that anyone from NYU is better prepared clinically than from most other schools just from the amount of experience they have. Each student I'm guessing has to have over 100 patients there by the time they graduate since NYU has a 250,000 patient pool. Chairs on the other hand is something they don't have enough of.

its so interesting that there are people on this forum who just started posting and then feel like they have the right to start talking ---- to people.

b4 you start posting irrelevant stuff here, you need to know that this forum was created for good use. no junk please!

ok i didn't wanna do this but you asked me to.

junk: "what did you eat?", "what does an acceptance letter look like?, "what does a rejection look like?", etc etc etc etc ect.

whats next one called? probably "do you have to study while in dental school?"

Where do the "patient pool" numbers come from?

250,000 sounds great, but how is that number obtained?

If that's an official NYU number, I think it would be the number of patients in their active/comprehensive (patients with ongoing tx plans) and recall pools (pts with completed tx plans). Probably does not include walk-in emergencies (pts with no tx plans, limited tx only) or inactive (pts discharged for various reasons such as excessive cancellations and disappointments).

Their websites says NYU gets 20,000 new patients every year.. Now THAT's impressive.

Schools in podunk little towns like the one I'm attending would be lucky to get 2000 new patients a year.. But I feel part of it is my school's fault-- My school doesn't exactly go out of its way to advertise or make it easy for someone to become a patient. 😡

I've seen the number thrown around a couple times. I remember it was mentioned at NYU both at the interview and in the materials they distributed. I've seen it here but it probably originated from NYU.

It does make sense to me since I went there a couple times during the application process and during undergrad (I have a family friend who works there) and it was always packed with patients. I know of people who go to NYU from NJ and the 5 boroughs of NYC. I know of a couple dentists who refer their patients to the school when they can't afford their services.

wow...didnt expect to get so many great replies...no hard feelings to the bub who dissed me...i got mad respect for everyone who visits this board...perhaps I should use more professional vocabulary, or standardized english, and as for the meds, lol well...i think you're the one who needs them shawn.

Info on facilities:

Patient pool:
"Students at NYUCD provide care for over 250,000 patient visits annually?more than at any other dental college nationwide. NYUCD students have contact with patients beginning in their first year and continuing throughout their education."
Click on 'Student Viewbook' then go under 'Clinical Experience'

Pasha and UBTom are correct in their reasoning. Those numbers are right on the money. And hey, it shouldn't be a surprise...it's New York City.
