Have some applicants taken the OAT before taking the required calculus course(s) or even concurrently? I read that the OAT tests algebra, but, having no calculus background, I was wondering if it's beneficial to have calculus as well.

Also, I'm taking an MCAT prep course through Kaplan, and was wondering if anyone else here has ever taken the MCAT then the OAT, and would know how similiar in structure they are, as well as the prep course itself, in preparation for the OAT.

Finally, I've taken the gen bio's, gen chem's, gen physics, organic chems, statistics and some upper bios like genetics, embryo, and cell and molec. I'll take microbio and neurbio this spring. Would these courses be fine enough without taking human anatomy and physiology since so many schools "strongly recommend" them?

Thanks in advance.

Another question I forgot to ask (since I'm not familiar with the OAT) is how much time did most of you put into studying for the OAT? I hear these accounts that for the MCAT that some people put in 25-30 hours a week for months straight...is this the case with the OAT as well?

I studied for the OAT for around 1.5 month; practically everyday with 1-2 hrs of study.. I think it was adequate enough. I think it also on how prepared has your school courses prepared you too. If you've already taken all the courses (ochem, chem, phy, math, bio, eng) to at least 2nd yr, theN I think you'll just need to review the material. The material on the OAT isn't hard, just a lot. I recommand you buying the TopScore Pro CD for the OAT, I think it was very helpful.

Thanks Katalio...

Does anyone have any suggestions about the prequisites and "strongly recommended" courses? 😕
