What is a good number of observation hours to have for applying to OT school? Also, is it better for the hours to be spaced over a period of months rather than to be completed over say a three week time period? I am interested in applying to OT school early next year. However, I am not sure that I will be able to complete the shadowing hours in time for that or if it would be better for me to wait another year and have time to complete more shadowing hours over a longer period of time. I completed 40 hours of health care related job shadowing in the spring of this year, but so far I have not completed any OT specific job shadowing. Also, what is a good GRE score to have when applying to OT school?

All I can say is the more then better. I would suggest 100+. I would also say it is better to space out your observations. This shows continual interest in OT and not just a last minute decision. I would say that it doesn't hurt to apply this year and see what happens, but keep shadowing incase you do not get in. With GRE scores I cannot help you. I had 148 and 151 and was accepted, however this was the first year of the new scoring system and I am not sure they had what to compare my scores too.
