I'm confused by the "excluding part time work." By definition, if you aren't regularly working those hours (lets say 7-3, 5 days a week minimum), aren't you a part time worker? lol So I imagine most "Full time anesthesiologists" work those hours.

As far as your comment regarding 7-3, 5 days a week making "only" 600-650k: What group in LA/OC offers this pay and life style without having to constantly do locums (which is a pain for some people or if you have a family and stationed). I am not aware of such gig in LA/OC (Academia, big PP groups, kaiser, county, or other big hospitals).

There seems to be only one person who works less than part time makes more than full time and gets more time off than board meeting trustees.

He doesn't always drink beer, but when he does, he prefers Dos Equis

if you are happy with ur compensation and work load model. That’s all that matters.

Me personally. I can’t stand working past 12pm these days for full pay. I’m at the gym by 11am half the time at my regular day. Or picking up my kids by 230p

That the lifestyle most people think about when you mention lifestyle jobs. Not just weeks off. But being out by mommy track hours to pickup kids and make dinner or run errands for them.

I hope I have some real short days because working 7-3 or longer each day is painful.

I’m glad you have the gig that works for you but this isn’t the reality. Realistically a normal anesthesiology job is work 7–3 on good days maybe even 7-5. Out by 12pm every is NOT the norm and is usually a special situation. I just put that out there for people coming into the field or searching the job market so they don’t get upset when they start working. Again, if you found a way to make 800k, taking 12 wks vacation, working 5 hrs 4 days a week. Excellent for you but again, not reality.

650 is average nowadays (below average for cardiac) and most anesthesiologists in OC don’t want to deal with ACT nonsense and giving state mandated breaks to CRNAs.

If it’s restricted to pure 40 hrs a week beeper inclusive it’s not too bad. This is where docs on w2 contract get hosed is uncompensated beeper time.

650k/40hr/42 weeks equals -= $386/hr

Most docs in Southern California would take guarantee $386/hr if all their hours on call and beeper count the same as physical hours in the hospital.

Correct. Always evaluate ur w2 work hours. Including beeper.

Cardiac docs in Florida are complaining of working 17 weeks a year being on call 168 hr those weeks for 550k.

Granted they are only averaging 40 hr a week while working. But when you add in their beeper calls hours. It so so. I guess it could be worse and they have only done 5 weekends days (like 5 total days of work) in the last 12 months. But in their minds they are working too much. Because bring on beeper means you can’t go away far. Even if you have 35 full weekends off cause u work 17 weeks a year anyways. But they hate being on call even if it’s rare call backs.

Central Florida People have different perceptions of “workload”. I’m partly to blame cause I recruited her to the work place cause it’s super easy. It’s a race to the bottom how little work one can do as an anesthesiologist. I play a lot of games. But workload varies so much from one place to another even with hospitals 10 min from each hospital. She wants the place with 290 days off now lol. For the same salary.

Somnia is at least 50-55hr weekly. 40hr my as-s, lol

One place I am doing locum 550K with 10weeks off. 1st call 7-8/month. Devil in the details.

The hospital is a ****ty trauma center. Level II in CA is basically level I without academic research/education.
