When in its proper position relative to the plane of occlusion, the crown of a mandibular second molar inclines:
A distally and facially
B mesially and facially
C mesially and lingualy
D distally and lingually.

I said B, answer said C :(

So the mandibular posterior teeth crowns are tilted towards the lingual relative to the long axis of their root, also, the teeth taper facial to lingual, and taper mesial to distal, I can see the incline going mesial and facial

Only explanation I can think of for "C" is to the say the cusp height of the lingual wall is greater than the buccal wall, is that it?

I think you're misreading the question. Relative to the occlusal plane, not the long axis of the tooth. The crown of a lower first molar will tipped mesial (curve of spee) and lingual (curve of wilson).
