So I am wondering what I should do for my situation here and would love sdn's advice for my issue. Ideally, it makes sense to take the dat summer after sophomore year for a number of reasons. I also would like to take ochem right before the dat so that material is still fresh in my mind. I still have another year of CC to finish up before I onto a university somewhere. My question is should I take ochem in cc this next year so I can take the dat the following summer. Or should I wait to take ochem at a university and take the dat as I am applying for schools summer after junior year? Would love some adivce!

I strongly suggest the university ochem, it proves yourself in a university setting because CC standards are much lower. Since most of your schooling is in community college the commitees will judge you highly on your ochem grades at the university. As for the DAT I would take that in May or early June in the cycle just before or as the application cycle begins.

I agree.

The OP can even plan to take the DAT in July...that's not late.

I think it is totally fine to take it at a CC. I took all my prerequisites at a CC and it was fine. And honestly, some CC classes are taught very well and are more difficult to get an A than in universities. It all depends on the professor. I was more than prepared for my DAT after OChem at a CC.
